What we do know is that Naomi Osaka at this point is #10 on the ESPN's 2019 list of most famous women athletes -- posted by cruzceleste. :thank:

What caught my eye about the women's list, and on the subject of what sports are popular in different countries, is the number 4 most famous female athlete in the world: Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal.

There is also a second Indian badminton player, P.V. Sindhu at #18.

I guess women's badminton is big in India and india is a big country. (Indian chess player, former world champion Viswanathan Anand is also icon.)

Maybe the fact that each and every person in the Philadelphia metropolitan area does makes up for it. :laugh:

I think they calculate it like this: Take the number of fans that follow him and multiply by how loud each one is.

The footballers are global stars - but I would think a quite small percentage of Americans follow Premier League, La Liga, etc. and most aren’t familiar with most or any of those guys on the list.
