A 12-year-old Olympian?

I thought this article was worth posting given the frequent discussions about age limits. It seems that skateboarding doesn't have them. Thoughts?

Isn't their a requirement that you must be 15 by a certain date to participate in the olympics (which allowed alina zagitova to compete)? Maybe there is no such limitation for the summer games

Yes, in skating and iirc, gymnastics, there is an age limit. In skating, the cut off is the exact age of the potential competitor on July 1st at the country of birth, and it changes from competition to competition, event to event (i.e. males could be older in Juniors pairs/dance than single) and year to year. One of the Russian female skaters, Adelina Sotnikova, was famously dealing with being a few hours, not even days too young, because she was born on July 1st.
