Should there be adult scoring for high lvl FS tests?

Looks like the Adult Skating Committee agrees with you Arwen.

New rules come out in July, but they are adding specific Adult Moves in the Field above Adult Gold and Adult Freeskate tests. Sounds like the actual content is the same, but that the passing standard will be lowered. Left to be seen however, as the information posted on usfsa didn't specify all of that completely, just that they are adding Adult versions.

Lower passing standards for adults (if desired) for MITF intermediate through Senior already exist. Will this be different?

Not always. I believe it has been since 2010 that the higher moves test had separate passing standards for adults and masters (as 50+ was then termed).

And of course there are no adult passing standards for juvenile and below MIF tests. There are separate adult MIF tests instead, which have been around since the early 2000s.

If you can log into USFSA, you can read the changes:

https://usfsaonline.org/GeneralInfo/GoverningCouncil

ETA: It looks like they are just stream-lining MITF pathway for adults, and nothing is really changing. But the big change is the Adult Free Skate tests. It sounds like the program lengths for tests will match the competition structure so that you don't have to recut your music or have a different program for Novice and Senior tests. It will also allow you to submit scores from competition to pass the test instead of skating a separate test session.

You’ve been able to just submit since 2017 from a competition, but now(if this passes) you can use Masters Intermediate/Novice and Junior/Senior events instead of having to get permission for intermediate to skate a standard track event or get strange looks from the parents. What the scores for the Adult FS test versions will be required for Intermediate + have yet to be decided exactly. Once passed, they will look at scores and determine what that score needs to be. That’s from the outgoing adult chair

So technically, you could do the same program for the Intermediate and Novice FS tests (but change the jumps a bit) since Interm-Novice competitions are combined for adults. Same thing for the Junior/Senior FS tests.

USFS already lets you test as an adult (21+) or a master (50+) on those standard tests that are beyond adult gold. It's essentially just a note to the judges, which lest them adjust their expectations. The adult skating page on USFS' website has details on this.

But yeah, they're also changing it. Looking forward to finding out more about that at governing council.
