Apparently Eunsoo Lim and Mariah Bell collided in practice today, resulting in Eunsoo's leg being cut and her being in enough pain to leave practice and seek medical attention. She was in pain and had muscle damage but resolved to skate anyway. Korean media reports that Eunsoo and her management company ATS filed a complaint saying that Mariah did it on purpose. An ATS rep was there to observe the incident and claims that Eunsoo was at the boards and not in anyone's way and Mariah was behind her when her blade hit Eunsoo's leg, thus the collision must have been intentional. ATS reports that Eunsoo feels Mariah has been interfering with her practices and bullying her for months. They share the same training rink and coach. The rink allegedly knows about Mariah's behavior and has separate their lockers, practice times, etc. ATS has asked KSA to file a complaint with USFSA.

There are many sources from Korean media about the complaint. My summary above was paraphrased from this tweet thread, which includes translations and links to sources: https://twitter.com/lynnneposts/status/1108365659405058050

Is this is true, these are serious allegations. If intentional, cutting an athlete's leg right before a major competition is not just bullying, it sounds like assault. It seems like complaints have already been filed but not much had been done. I hope USFSA takes these complaints seriously and investigates the situation if they truly stand for zero tolerance and transparency.

Wow! I forgot they train together. This is interesting....I hope not true.

Are there any videos of the collision?

I'll admit I find it hard to believe that Mariah could be a bully or that Raf would tolerate it. But I don't think Eunsoo or her team have anything to gain by making these accusations against a training mate and a skater from a much more powerful federation.

I hope Eunsoo gets the support she needs and that officials get to the bottom of this and take appropriate action. But I am extremely concerned that USFS will ignore it or try to sweep it under the rug.

It's not much the injury which could be an unintentional accident but the fact they claimed Mariah Bell harassed Eunsoo Lim for months and even after the supposed injury.

Rafael and Mariah Bell need to clarify this as soon as possible.

Aren’t there cameras everywhere on the rink? This happened in the six minutes warmup if I’m understanding correctly?? Surely then it would be easy to pull up the videos and see the moment? This all sounds like a big misunderstanding, I have a really hard time believing A. Mariah Bell would jeopardize her chances at worlds this way and B. That Raf would put up with this kind of disfunction/arguing at his rink that would then escalate to something like this. Did her team approach Raf and Mariah before they went to the press? This is something really serious to accuse someone of and I REALLY hope they wouldn’t just do this without tying to every thing they could to clear the air between the skaters and coach first. They both skated so lovely today it’s a shame that this drama is coming up

Wow

If it’s real, don’t expect Korea to let it go that easy

This is the part that strikes me the most:

ATS reports that Eunsoo feels Mariah has been interfering with her practices and bullying her for months. They share the same training rink and coach. The rink allegedly knows about Mariah's behavior and has separate their lockers, practice times, etc. ATS has asked KSA to file a complaint with USFSA.

Reading this makes me feel sick:(. If Mariah intentionally injured Eunsoo, that goes beyond bullying (which obviously isn’t acceptable either) - and deserves severe consequences.

I really hope Eunsoo will be ok:pray:

Yeah, that's the part that can be most easily confirmed/denied. I too hope the rumours aren't true because they are horrendous if so, but Eunsoo and her team have literally nothing to gain and everything to lose by making this allegation. I hope the truth comes out soon...

Another disturbing piece of this if it is true, Mariah is 23 and Eunsoo is only 16 years old. If this is true and the past few months a 23 year old woman was bullying a 16 year old minor..wow. I probably would brush this off as gossip if there wasn't that part about the rink separating them and that it was a known issue. So many questions too, like where is Raf in all of this? Why wasn't it handled on a coach/team level and escalated to the federations unless Raf wasn't handling it.

Hope Raf and Mariah come out and make a statement quick because I'm already seeing so much hate for Mariah. Silence on a topic like this will give the implication of guilt.

I'm strongly hoping these are just rumors or misunderstanding or something.

First of all, I don't think Raf would put up with this kind of behaviour, I think he would most definitely not put up with this kind of behaviour. But if it is true that the rink has been aware of so said bullying and arranged for them to be kept away from each other, then I don't know what to think anymore.

And, if it is true that ATS and Eunsoo herself is asking Korean Federation to file a complaint I do not see how this could be just a misunderstanding. No skater would go to such long lengths and against a much bigger federation for no reason or for minor reasons. If they really want US fed to take action against Bell then it must be serious.

The collision, from what I read on Twitter, happened during one of the practice sessions. Eunsoo had to leave practice earlier because her leg was hurt and she needed to treat it. Official tv cameras must have footage of that and depending on how far this goes perhaps they will provide them for the sake of investigating.

Again, I really hope this isn't true.

I will withhold judgement until all facts are out but this seems incredibly farfetched and more like an escalation out of a misunderstanding. It would be stupid for Mariah to do this intentionally and at Worlds of all places infront of cameras/ other people.

This article is click bait. I’ve been to the rink multiple times and NO ONE has been bullying anyone. Stop creating sh** and spreading rumors. What happened in the warm up was an accident. Don’t distract both Eunsoo and Mariah from the competition.

This all seems questionable to me... I don’t think Mariah would risk her status and reputation just to injure Eunsoo...

yes, I think the part of the collision being intentional is the one that I have a hard time believing.
But the whole thing about the rink being aware, they being separated, ATS and Eunsoo herself taking action, I mean... The same way I don't think Mariah would risk her reputation and career to injure Eunsoo in front of a crowd and multiple cameras, I don't think ATS/Eunsoo would be making noise about nothing. If the bullying thing is true, the collision might have been the final drop for Eunsoo. Even if it was not intentional, if she was already in a state of vulnerability and with negative feelings towards Mariah she could've felt like it was on purpose. Of course there's the possibility that it was indeed on purpose but I'm pretty sure we'll never for certain.

This is all speculation so far.

I hope Rafael/Mariah/US fed makes a statement fast and clear things up.

No. The incident was already being discussed as they were taking ice for warm up and it was my understanding that if it did happen, it happened during an earlier practice (yesterday or today, unsure).

withholding your judgement means not expressing your opinion on the matter.

Seriously, let’s close this thread until an official statement comes out.

idk, even if it was an accident, you make someone bleed and don't apologize?? Not a good move.
