I heard some new, rather disturbing rumors - but I don't want to post it here since highly likely they can be false.
I wonder where these rumours come from. Some forums or comments? As crazy as it sounds, these rumours are sometimes true (a lot of news were already known by internet users before they were actually announced) but a lot of them can be creations born out of boredom or jealousy. Anyone can write anything under anonymous profile. I hope by word 'disturbing' you didn't mean that people are sharing something hateful.

You happen to hear a lot, you do? And you even more like to spread rumours ....

Yes, something like that.

That's the exact reason I don't want to post them.

You happen to hear a lot, you do?

Because I frequent high amount of various fs resources - including rather private/closed ones.
And you even more like to spread rumours ....
Considering that I posted maybe 1% of them - it's not completely the case.

anybody, I mean ANYBODY who is using Alina's case to promote rising min age is engaging in extremely shameless act of demagoguery.

At least, Use Lipnitskaya.

Because you know what? Alina didn't lose her jumps. She is unreliable,sure, but she has always been unreliable and has never been safe from mistakes even at her olympic season (she bombed at least one short program and underperformed in 2 others).

If you want to promote theory of 'adult women lose jumps they do at 15', you shouldn't lose Alina as an example. What Raf is attempting to do now is playing on feelings of Alina's Large fanbase to promote his own agenda.

and needless to say, raise minimum age to 20 if you want, it wont fix problem of recognizable Figure skater quitting.

You may enjoy watching Alina skate with your Coffee and Biscuits, but any competitive figure skater has to go through hell in training. And if you have made yourself a brand and won OGM, there is no reason in the world to do so. Why should you train yourself to borderline death when you can relax, skate in shows, make TV appearances and make as much, if not more money ?

Another reason why so many talented skaters quit early is ISU quota system.

Liza will be watching from 1TV studio, while she can easily beat all but 3 athletes at European Championship.

People who mention 'look Medvedeva and Zagitova won medals, and now new jumping machines arrived and they don't even compete' miss elephant in the room: They wont be there not because 3A but because of system, which ensures that World champion needs to fight tooth and nail for chance of defending her title.

When you have 3 spots,for at least, 6 superstars and many more world class athletes, you have a problem. But nobody bothers to demand change of quota system into something more sensible (for example Top 10 highest results automatically gets a spot or something like that), no, all of them are preaching for age requirements.

And elephant in the room is the fact that 3A are first generation of Girls who learned ultra elements before adulthood and all they need to remain competitive against next generation of 'jumping machines' is keeping their jumps (something that many people managed to do) while generation before them needs to learn new elements to stay competitive.

Discussion about age limit might have a point if 3A lost their jumps.

or Alina lost her jumps.

it didn't happen,yet.

So far , only thing that has happened is technical revolution in ladies FS.

Revolution, which was made possible by one school.

and many people don't have a slightest clue how they did it or more importantly, how to catch up.

Everything else, all these talks about 'effects on body', 'they can't keep these jumps' etc etc are utterly baseless, for simple reason: They aren't and can't be based on any data. We won't have data at least for another year.

But people who cant teach their own junior skaters how to jump a quad desperately need to,somehow, stop quad revolution.

and they are trying to use Alina's decision-something which is completely unrelated to age limit or quads to advance their agenda.

But that makes it funnier, even if they achieve their aim and ISU raises age limit, chances are very high even that wont help them

But then, many people are feeling danger of getting pushed out of ladies fs business and they will try everything to avoid that.

There are few sources of rumors:

1. Head of the people who want to become popular online.

2. Hired Troll factories or Passionate group of fans wagging an information warfare (only difference here is that the first ones are paid, second ones aren't).

3. overheard conversations.

Example of the third one:

Skater jumps quad on harness.

Cleaning lady overhears coach mentioning skater and quad in one sentence.

Tells her friend, "Wow s/he landed a quad".

Her friend, who is mother of young skater training in the kids group, comes home, gets on her phone and feeling like insider journalist, triumphantly tells FS fans at Sports.Ru:'Skater X has got a quad!'.

and if that skater actually lands it in a competition short after 'inside', 'source' will get recognition as an 'trustworthy insider' who 'knew about Skater X landing a quad' and become queen of comment sections :biggrin:

At the end of the last season there were rumours about Aliona leaving Eteri (she was even asked about it on-line).

At the beginning of the season there are always proposals about who should leave, at the end there are always rumours about who will surely leave. I bet the sources are the same in both types of cases.

Quota system is shame (and ISU kicking itself in the sacks)
The only reason to support a quota system based on nationality is politic.
I don't care which flags flies above Alina, Zenya and Liza: I'm a fan of skating, they're 3 of the best 10 skaters in the world, they could all potentially made 1st group for the FS at WC.
I'm angry that the international season of Alina finished at GP final, Zenya's at rostelecom and Liza's at China GP.
What a waste of talent ISU!

Personally I would whitelist previous year podium of the same competition and current season GP finalists for continental and world championship.
Then substitute the minimum TES with a 3 increasing minimum total scores tiers (Q1 > Q2 > Q3).
Each federation can send a single skater who scored above that quota
To send 3 you need to have the 1st skater > Q1, the 2nd over Q2 and the 3rd over Q3
To send 2 one over Q2 and one over Q3.
To send 1, you only need a skater over Q3.

But the method is not importat: what does really matter is ISU to ensure the best skaters to compete in main events and promote skating.

Wait. Groups of skating fans and backers of particular skaters pay to have professional trolls spam figure skating boards and social media?

That explains a lot. :yes: :laugh:

For the past couple years, I would go to fskate.ru to figure out when the qualifying events where for (what google translate called) the Zhuk memorial nationals and the Zonal nationals. I went to the federations own website to figure this out and it seems like they're missing some events(Moscow's and maybe St Petersburg) : https://fsrussia.ru/calendar.html

Tulup.ru has the Moscow events listed but I don't see the St Petersburg ones there: https://tulup.ru/competitions/?start=4&country=2017370

It could be possible the St Petersburg events have been merged with other events.

Zhuk = younger age(10-15)
Zonal = older age(13-19)

* January 21-24: Zonal qualifier for Ural Federal District, Volga Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/667/
* January 27-30: Zhuk qualifier for Central Federal District, North-Western Federal District, Southern Federal District, Northern Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/668/
* January 27-30: Zhuk qualifier for Moscow https://tulup.ru/competitions/753/ http://www.ffkm.ru/competitions/current/1267-pmmv2020

* February 7-9: Zhuk qualifier for Siberian Federal District, Far Eastern Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/672/
* February 11-14: Zonal qualifier for NWFD, Southern Federal District, North-Western Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/673/
* February 12-15: Zhuk qualifier for Ural Federal District, Volga Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/670/ (tulup.ru lists the date as 4-6. I don't know who is right)
* February 12-15: Zonal qualifier for Central Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/674/
* February 23-25: Zonal qualifier for Siberian Federal District, Far Eastern Federal District https://tulup.ru/competitions/676/
* February 24-27: Zonal qualifier for Moscow https://tulup.ru/competitions/763/

* March 11-15: Zhuk Memorial Championship https://tulup.ru/competitions/680/
* March 31-April 5: Zonal Championship https://tulup.ru/competitions/685/

The Zhuk qualifiers are the most interesting to me since the younger group will be those who likely took up skating in light of the Sochi Olympics. Moscow's on January 27-30 being the most interesting.
