Three skaters who have already had challenger and GP

I do not understand RusFed sometimes... they seem so reluctant to send skaters who in all honesty need the international experience at this point

The only explanation I can think of is that RusFed don't want the same situation with too many girls earning GP spots again. At the moment they have nine in the SB list (which is max) plus Samodurova and Konstantinova in the WS list. So they need to do some cutting again.

It's bad news for Gubanova and Tsibinova though, who won't get a GP next year. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Gubanova retires completely soon, her motivation must be shattered. Why go on when it seems impossible to get international assignments?

I hope these girls have a great RusNats and prove RusFed wrong.

Yes, in doubtfull situatuons, judges should act in benefit of a skater. However, i think anyone from the tech panel can push a button for review at any time if he/she wants to, and that element will be reviewed (and the most likely outcome will not benefit the skater). The point is not to let judges to push that button, however some of the judges may do it anyway :)

Ah, so this again is what I previously described as a form of "triage". The questionable elements must have reason(s) to trigger the tech person or the judge to press the review button. Practically, I really think the judges and TP will not scrutinise everything and only focus on those that are suspect.

I think we will be surprised and disappointed when we find out for sure how many degrees of rotation skaters actually perform in the air on big jumps.

But it will quash once and for all the triggers for conspiracy....hmm but then, us being human beings, we will find probably something else to cry foul over :)

There were plenty of spots to go round, so I'm happy that some skaters got 2 or 3 spots or that Maria got 1 and so on. What I don't understand is why Tsibinova is at Tallin Trophy and not Warsaw Cup this week. At this point it indeed looks like RusFed wants to prevent overcrowding on the SB list.

Thanks! Is this an important comp? Like qualifying to novice nats or just a random one that means little? Is it the same link to the older girls live stream?

Yes, Tsibinova seems to be in great form and could have scored ~200 points that certainly would have been enough to be in the SB24 list. So, no GP in sight for her until 2021-2022 season - that's crazy.

Unfortunately, I can't help you.

I don't know much about Novis competitions.

I only try to keep an eye on Akatyeva and Zhilina. I think we can expect a new jump from them for the first time in the world.

Wait for a good 4T from Akatyeva. Maybe even from Zhilina cause we already saw her 4T/4S in training?

So this Volkov memorial. I found steam and Results page (I think) younger girls currently on
stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UPTzULelgY
results: (top is younger, lower is older with Sofia x2 and Veronika Z) http://freeskating.info/results/1920/volkov_memorial_2019/

They seem to be half way through yonger girls so I assume older will be afterwards

edit. YT also suggested this comp to me. I have no clue what it is but might be of interest to someone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6mppzT228o

Liza generally goes to Golden Spin - she was entered last year as well, but WD when she qualified for the GPF. I think Caro went too when she was with Mishin. It seems he likes to take his skaters to this competition. Also, it is well known that he likes his skaters to compete much and often.

It would be interesting to know how these spots are assigned, and who pays for travel &c.

I really really like Ksenia Melkumova! She has such good skating skills and charisma, but she needs to get those jumps in order. I'm really looking forward to seeing her mature over the years.

But Nastya is on the national team as a reserve! Remember? What a BS tease that was. She has truly been buried for years and Elena Buyanoval ended up burying her career for good. As well as Maria's Elena's and Polinas. it was quite a year for coach Buyanova. ;) Nastya has been good last 2 rusnats and been underscored and placed too low. Remember junior rusnats 2 years ago when she finished 4th? Ridiculous. Totally bogus. She had Junior world's stolen from her. Her career is like one that never was. But that's sports and that's like.

All she has is rusnats and Russian Cup the rest of the season. No one can really develop with only 2 events. Maybe Nastya is Russian C team for life.

But I hope she and little Liza and Nastyas T and G continue. What else are they going to do? School? Change countries? Not sure I would want to see Gubanova BLR or UKR etc. But if she and other do change countries we all would understand.

I remember lots of people argued that both Tarusina and Gubanova should have placed above Samodurova and Medvedeva at RusNats last year. If so, this season would have been very different for them. But there is no "if" in figure skating.
