Yes, I think that Gubanova skates with emotion and musicality and interprets the music very well. Guliakova on the other hand has perhaps more power, but is a bit stiff. She is not the most gracious skater out there and Swan Lake is definitely not the music for her. The difference in PCS should be reflected accordingly but it was not.
And it never is. To go back over the years and see what lesser skaters have higher PCS is the nastya it's just galling and appalling. And it never changes.

Gubanova has 2 choices:

either stop thinking herself as an unjustly bullied diamond, stop being angry at everyone around, lose some weight and lock herself up at the rink in a bid to use at least, some of the opportunities and talents she definitely had and has.

or continue being angry at everyone around, blaming fans, judges, coaches, federation... probably also aliens for her wasted talent, remembering how easily she beat Alina Zagitova in novices and juniors, thinking she is no worse than World champions and Olympic medalists and etc while competing for Cup of Russia.

For sake of her career I would like to recommend the former, but she and her fans seem to be very happy with the later.

It's only her fault that is takes her a mile to prepare for a barely rotated triples. As much as I dislike Buianova, Gubanova so far has done everything to prove that she was right to expel her from the team.

She would have two choices if the Federation was behind her but they have proven over the years they are not. So reality says she has zero choices. And Nastya skated pretty well for Buyanova. In fact it was better than any female of Butcher Buyanovas since Sotnikova in 2014. Somehow Nastya survived that coach. Masha Elena and Polina were not so lucky.

How do you know she's angry at everyone around her and how do you know she doesn't work hard? We rarely hear from her so it's hard to know what she really thinks. Edwin posted a video of her yesterday along with the other two medalist and of course nastya had no audio on hers so nobody knew it was she was saying. Lol.

She was not expelled from her previous Club. She brought flowers to her former coach and they had a nice parting of the ways and then the coach stabbed her in the back a couple months after that with the story about expulsion. Do you really think she would have brought her coach flowers if she was expelled? And who would bring flowers or candy to a coach or boss for being fired which is essentially what the former coach was saying about Nastya? The answer is no one would bring their boss or coach flowers or candy after basically being fired.

And who is in good shape figure skating wise in June? The answer is no one.

Since you have so much information that most of us are not privy to what's the situation with Daria Panenkova? Is she still skating?

Federation support in most cases isn't gifted, you need to earn it (or join TeamTutberidze  /s ), what has Gubanova ever done to get federation PCS boost? Nothing. We rarely hear from her but when we do, we seldom get positive impression of her :) You can listen her interview with Rodina, for example.

coach told that she had to leave the group due to inability tu sustain training workload at CSKA. Her words, not mine. Now you can call this 'expelled' or 'escorted out' if you want but the season has proven that 'Butcher Buianova' ( ) was unfortunately right.

I have nothing against her and to this day think that hate what was directed at at her was way too much and I think she is definitely talented, but if she wants to realize her potential, she needs to change her attitude both on and off rink.

I don't have any insides  all I know is from reading Russian news and social networks and all information I have is in an open public access, if you want to get inside information, you need to go to sports.ru comment section where every other person seems to work at Khrustalny(lately there is also surge of people who seem to have inside information from FNS)

anyway, Panenkova seems to have ceased training for a long time now and switched to coaching, officially she hasn't retired but considering insane competition in Russian ladies FS, I doubt she is considering return.

We will agree to disagree on her being expelled.

Being in Eteris group means a lot to their scores. And when they leave her there scores drop big time.

Thank you for the update on Dasha. It looks like she may be done as a competitive skater. Sad. But she has only herself to blame right? ;)

Maybe because once she was indeed THAT good.

In 2015, in Russian Cup in Samara she broke 200 points at 12yo, which was unthinkable for a junior, even more novice, at that time. Only one skater in senior World Championships had managed to do that (Tuktamysheva). Junior word champion scored 192 (Medvedeva).

Her R&J still moves me deeply.

Thanks I needed that. I had forgotten Nastya was the first novice or junior to break 200 points. But that has been long forgotten by the fed. Nastyas R & J was certainly the best Romeo and Juliet I've seen since Sasha Cohen's in 2006. It was unthinkable for a 13 year olf girl to be able to pull R & J off like she did. I hope Nastya brings this back in a year or two when she can do it with full maturity and depth. She will still do it with the beautiful artistry and interpretation like she did as a junior. Whatever free skate she does next season it should be a classic. She can handle all of them especially when it comes to artistry and interpretation.

I'm glad for Nastya skating 2 clean programs. I'm joining the "she was rubbed team" and yes this is most definitely not the first time.
Nastya Gubanaova for me represents what figure skating is about, she has it all, musicality, artistry, interpretation and great skating skills. She is the skater I really want to get an international competition so I get to see her skate live.

It looks like her coach change to Rukavicin and his team was the right one. They have Glinka as Choreographer and I think that will work out really good.

So well said. Please post more often. We don't talk about Nastya too much in here.

The best she can hope for next season is a couple challenges and an outside chance at a Grand Prix event. But she has to go to test skates looking strong and confident like she did in the Russian Cup final. She has not been healthy enough to do test case the last two years and that has really hurt her.

While I agree Nastia has been treated unfairly in the past by the federation (I think she should've been selected for JWC twice), that is not the only reason for her lack of success in recent years. Yes, some skaters from CSKA and TAT favourites like Sotnikova, Sotskova, and Konstantinova got a push that can be considered unfair, but there are tons of skaters who were unknowns and had no special treatment who were able to achieve a lot. I don't think Lipnitskaya (who was always second to Sotnikova nationally but not internationally), Radionova, Medvedeva, Zagitova, etc. had any push to help them when they were up and coming. Also many have argued that Anna Pogorilaya should've placed above Sotskova at many national events. If we're talking about doing well at JGPF and not making worlds, then there are many like Tarakanova and Sinitsyna who may not be world champions but are still skating and doing well. And most importantly, none of them have talked about how the federation treated unfairly or that they deserved more. Or accused any of their compatriots of using other means to gain success. And of course, Anastasia did spend a season coached by Buyanova and choreographed by TAT, a situation that would've given her more political push than most, but failed to capitalize on that.

I will always remember Nastia JGPF R+J as one of the most beautiful programs, but that was many seasons ago and none of her skates since then have been anywhere close to that. The lack of selection for international events depended on those skates, as they should have, and she did not deserve a spot over any of the other skaters who got one over her. Unfair treatment for a selection or two quite a few seasons ago can't be used as an excuse for her not being a top skater in her country now. That's all on her.

I agree with some of your points and disagree with some of them. but if you are a lawyer your client would have lost the case. ;)

I especially agree with you about how beautiful her Romeo and Juliet was. She should bring that back as a senior because it would be awesome.

When did Nastia ever complain publicly about her Federation? I am guessing that was in the Rodina interview. I don't understand Russian so I don't know how to know what she really said. And she never accused anyone of anything. Because some of her supporters do does not mean she did. I am sure Nastia will stay quiet this offseason and come up with programs that can really show her talents next season. She has seemingly survived puberty and saved her career this season even as little as she skated. Panekova seems done and Kanysheva moved to dance. So sad. But that is life and that is sports.

On a side note I don't understand why so many of these skaters like and follow Rodina especially after the terrible things She said about Alina. And that includes princess Aliona. Doing that interview was a bad idea for Nastia. But you have to cut her some slack someone who is young and learning. Not everyone can instinctively know what to do like Alina and Anna.

I don't know what to make of this article or blog post or whatever it is. There was nothing tragic about that day. It was two great Russian skaters lifting their ountry's beleaguered sports image to great heights.

Alina and Evgenia we're great at night. That's how I remember it.
A head-sicked person writes there (she came from sports.ru, it says a lot). Do not pay attention to her. :)

Gubanova and few other examples are the true victims of National politics: it's all about Sambo70, CSKA, Ice Star and those other groups get left out even when they have top tier athletes.

Gubanova was at CSKA. She didn't manage to stay there.

EDIT:Did you mean that CSKA doesn't have support ?! Interesting claim if so

Sure, Eteri's Skaters have some extra push from Federation, but You need to get there first  and then stay there.

Gulyakova was coming from successes at Senior Nationals

and who stopped Gubanova from picking up that Momentum? Probably, uh... herself during short program at Nationals ?

In Moscow Cup for Older Age, Sof'ya Akat'yeva just jumped her 3A-2T combination again, but had to put a hand down after landing the triksel.
Only 3rd, after a clean Berestovskaya and Petrosyan.

Moscow has 6 quota for Finals, assuming Samodelkina has already qualified by her other Cup finals win, 5 more are still in contention.
Akat'yeva and Petrosyan will most likely make it, which means three more quota are open for ??

It looks like muscle to me. She does not look fat at all. She's not a twig so that surprising people I guess. Nastyas body fat % is probably very healthy.

If that volume were muscle, it would be even worse. Muscle is much heavier than fat.

Gubanova probably secured her reserve team status for another season, but that's about all that can be said. Even the reserve team gets very crowded, and invitations to Test Skates might not befall on everyone on that list.

For Gubanova to stay in contention for B events other than at her own expense, much more work is needed, like constant presence and participation in conditioning and PE sessions, to be eventually considered for a start at federation's expense.

Are we worried about Rika Kihira's 156 points at Challenge Cup?

That's a topic for Rika's thread, where it lives and prospers.

The trainers of those three Russians in training for World Championships have taken notice no doubt. What is the tally of Rika vs 3A again?

No doubt she is formidable opponent, but she cannot force fate to bring herself a Gold medal. If everybody is 100% healthy and on game, the competition in Montreal will be very exciting.
