almost all girls trained quite far away from China (Yelim and You trained in US), probably Ryabova is the closest since she trained in Russia.
Also i wonder if Tursynbaeva will skate at CoC or will she withdraw

China also doesn’t have any ladies to protect, so if a second event is going to happen for You or Kim, this seems like the best bet.
Last week in Minsk.
Yelim is back in Korea training with a former coach. Fingers crossed for either one of them.
Marina was not impressive at Minsk, finishing 7th behind skaters like Kuchvalska and Taljegard.
She must be still recovering from her injury--no lutz, only one 3f< in her FS, plus 3t and 3s.
China is far more likely to choose a skater who is located in Asia.

Yes, Piredda has great interpretive skills. But she'd be at a disadvantage in the GP with such minimal tech. If the open spot was in Russia, she might just get it. But China doesn't worry about competition and will want a more local candidate anyway.

Courtney Hick's score at her REgional competition tells me she's not ready for international competition, even though I have a soft spot for her.

Don't forget Shiika Yoshioka, who's ranked between Hicks and Peltonen
She didn't compete at JGP so technically, she's eligible to replace Mihara
She is Junior skater who did not qualify to JGP team this season.
If she selected for Senior GP it is unfair for skaters who did JGPs.
Though she skated good (winning summer competiton and regional) after test skate for JGP in Jun.

I wonder why? I can't think of many reasons for withdrawing from CoC but not Rostelecom Cup.

The skate gods really love Matteo Rizzo this season — both of his Grand Prix assignments have lost one of their seeded skaters — Kolyada at SCI, now Zhou. And in China, the other seed is the currently-struggling Jin.
We’ll see if he can actually take advantage of this, but he’s been given a golden chance to make a home Final.
