The Hustle? :yahoo:

Oh please let Disco Brits do the Hustle:pray: (although why that is separate from “Disco” is a head scratcher  )

I don't know; why repeat a program so soon? I'd love to see them stretch their abundant talents in other directions. They're so young; they can always go back to another disco program in the future. Otherwise, I'd fear they'd uhm typecast themselves.

Yeah. And i thought line dancing is a type of a country/folk dance (even it can be danced on any type of a music and may have required beats to call it a swing). Is it its origins in club/disco settings? I thought is a country related. And what is a monkey dance - to dance with a monkey's movements? :confused2:

Yes, line dancing is a dance form linked to country music (as in country and Western) - no discos, no clubs, it's more of a pub dance if anything. I did it for a while, back in the day - a line dance can be set to music with any beat, so there are even some line dance waltzes, eg the Wool Shed Waltz. But I really can't see how Line dance could be called a genre of music unless they're trying to say country and missing, and as a genre of dance it would be very hard to translate it to an ice dance version. For one thing, except in those occasional waltzes, line dance is done in lines, so there's no partnering and no contact between dancers! Plus the steps for each dance are done in a pre-determined pattern that fits a specific song, similar to the Nutbush and the Macarena. Wouldn't suit an ice-dance style step sequence at all, though the overall premise could be adapted to use in the Choreo Step Sequence in a free dance I suppose!

ETA: There are definitely country songs that have line dances set to them and that would qualify as Swing under the ISU's rules, but very few musicals include country songs...

There's The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Line dancing would have to be adapted to the ice, of course. Perhaps mixed with country swing or something. But it wouldn't be the first time such an adaptation has taken place. Irish step dancing, Bollywood, Krylova & Ovsiannikov's drum music, etc. None of these styles fit traditional ballroom dance; but they have all been adapted to the tune of winning World or Olympic medals. It's always a plus to keep the rules open and let the skaters define what is possible.

I know, this post was for my enjoyment, not their development. I’m selfish:biggrin:

I’m for anyone who can channel that vibe to do the hustle on ice.

For the 2019/2020 season does anyone know what are the maximum scores for RD, FD and total? Are there any changes from 2018/2019?

I assume there are some changes, but I have no idea what the maximum scores are. I know the differentiation between the different levels earned in the pattern is a bit more this season than last season. And that different patterns have different base values. The B.V. for the Finnstep in 2014 was 7.00 points. But I don't know if this year's Finnstep is worth that because I think skaters may not be performing as much of the pattern, but only a section of it. (In which case the b.v. for the pattern would probably be down a bit). Then skaters are performing two different types of step sequences instead of only one as we had last year. Step sequences are usually worth more than a pattern. (The pattern step from 2018 was worth over 1 1/2 points more than one of last year's full patterns). So there should be some changes in base value, but I don't know what they will be.

This communication has all of the scales of values but from my understanding I believe that the BV for the Finnstep (first section) are:

1FSB - 4.00
1FS1 - 5.35
1FS2 - 5.85
1FS3 - 6.60
1FS4 - 7.35

The pattern is now scored like the Twizzles and One Foot section (Lady and Man separately):

Pst(L/M)B - 2.00
Pst(L/M)1 - 3.23
Pst(L/M)2 - 3.48
Pst(L/M)3 - 3.85
Pst(L/M)4 - 4.23

My calculations would have a perfect RD BV score as 36.4 and a perfect tech score as 51.87 - so the perfect RD score this year would be 91.87.

This could be wrong though, its very late here and my brain is not running at 100% alertness haha.

Thank you very much Litenkyckling for these calculations
And do you know if there are any changes for the FD?

Yeah. i mean those are not type of dances, for me those are just particular movements/parts of the dance, there is no need to put them there at all. Well, ISU presenter for music requirements is American, maybe in USA Mashed Potato is considered as a distinctive type of dance? Is it Macarena a legitime type of dance then? Or Beyonce?

I’m praying so hard that Piper and Paul will resurrect Disco Diane and Disco Reggie for the sequel to their 2016-2017 rhythm dance, 1970s porn stash and all. I’d better pitch a tent in my yard in case this dream of mine comes true, because I’ll be living for the return of such pure, unadulterated camp.

Everyone is invited to join me at the SynchroHouse; I’ll be sure to purchase enough marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate for delicious s’mores to roast around the camp fire.

Good lord, my metaphors are really getting out of control. :palmf:
