4Loop needs a BV increase, higher than 4Lutz. :p

I don't know who else besides Hanyu has it in their repertoire.

Jr. skater Daniel Grassl does, but yeah, it's quite a rare jump compared to all the other quads out there.

I think we will never NOT be scared by any fall, we've watched him be out through the wars and we don't ever want to go there again.

I was at work calmly reigned to no livestream, sneaked a peek at the forum and OOOOOHHH.... and I couldn't get to it! On the other hand, maybe afterwards when I know it went well is better.

By the sound of it, the livestream was basically Yuzucam, big surprise there

Very solid practice! Jumps looked really good, and steps looked amazing - it was as if he was flying across the ice. Thank you camera person for focusing on Yuzu, what a nice surprise for us fans.

Me: No sound? What?

(after watching whole video)

Me: NHK, you can do this again. :)laugh:)

I think Japanese skaters have press conference tonight and I am curious what Yuzuru will tell us. I am not be able to watch practice of livestream except for Saturday, but I hope Yuzuru continues to be good and healthy in the sessions :)

I can't believe I missed it!
I hope someone has recorded it. Here it is, https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=369&v=uLJF3rdLXr0&feature=emb_logo
Sota Yuzu and Korshiro look so cute together.

Some interesting points,
When asked what he's doing to maintain his health
- I'm thinking in detail, How many jumps do I need? What do I need to do on the ice and what do I need to do on ground. But of course, life does not always follow one's plans, and a lot of things don't go to plan, but, I've somewhat been able to tell, when I'm feeling this way, I can do this much. And through injury and illness, I've been able to feel this and through these experiences I'd like to put breaks on myself. Not in a negative way, in a positive way, put breaks on myself. To little by little, put breaks on myself on ice, and do what I can on the ground.

When asked about their preparation and training heading into their second GP assignment
-After Skate Canada, I worked on fundamentals. While I'm not changing anything in particular, I've prepared the foundation, and the base, to come to this competition. My condition is good and I've been able to make good adjustments as well. So while it may be the same content, I'm aiming for even better, and have trained for that.

To Sota: you've looked up to Hanyu , and if I'm not mistaken, this is your first time to stand on the same ice with him as a senior. What are your thoughts and what do you want to learn? And if Hanyu could give a reply to that?

Sota says: He's so admirable...and...what was the question? (Koshiro prompts him but Sota can't find words) Well if I started there won't be an end. Well, to do a perfect performance with that content is so difficult, so to do that in any competition consistently must have so much effort behind it....and if I was able to come close to that, though I'm not in a position to contend, but as something to aspire to, I too will do my best.
Yuzuru says: Why are you looking? (they were staring at him) Continues, 'It's been 10 years since I debuted as a senior, well, I was very early, I was only in juniors for 2 years, I was very nervous at the time and it was at NHK that was my first grand prix, I have the memory of landing my first quad, but I had no stamina, and I couldn't contend, and Korshiro was saying to me in the changing room, 'I was so nervous my legs were shaking' I thought, is that so, I'm sorry. There are things that can only be experienced in a senior competition, and that can only be experienced on the Grand Prix, like the difficulty of putting it all out there, and the (skills) gap between you an the world so while feeling all these things, please do you best. Please do your best in competition. (laugh, bow)

In answer to other questions Hanyu made a point of saying how with the rules changes, past highest scores cannot have bearing on the present. That he's only concentrating on this season, this competition and that he has confidence in having scored the highest scores so far in this season.

When asked about if he changed his way of preparing for competition, as he seemed very relaxed, Hanyu said that he hadn't concentrated on relaxing in particular, as it was the first day he was actually strongly motivated, but as he stumbled a little he thought, "Boy am I crap!" But I'm very conscious of each moment, towards tomorrow, being here and saying this, feeling what can only be felt in this moment, and doing things that can only be done in this moment, so in some ways already preparing for competition. So though I am relaxed, the pressure of Skate Canada, and the GPF and sense of not wanting to get injured, are all in turmoil inside me. So in some ways it needs a different method of concentration - So feeling all those things as well, and considering what do I need to do, what must I do at this time, I want to act upon each of those matters"

As always, please correct me if I'm not translating it right, or if you spot an error.

No live stream today!
But here's an onsite report of Yuzu's jumps etc.

His loop seems to be doing well, and his 4T timing is iffy today. But over all the jumps seem good.

In todays runthrough of Otonal he put a hand down on the 4S, landed the 3A beautifully and popped the 4T combo. -But he succeeded in these jumps before and after the runthrough.

If I weren't sick or weren't performing tomorrow, I'd get up at 5 am and watch live (still tempted to do that, but I know I'd regret it). Instead, I'm getting up later and doing a media blackout, no Facebook or Google until after I see him skate so I don't come across any spoilers. i have the men's SP golden skate thread open on my phone so I can follow along as I watch with no spoilers. So excited!
