This is also very old news clip, Yuzuru competed in Japanese Jr. Nationals when he was 12 being a novice skater. He finished in the 7th place in SP but made a great come back in FS, and he won bronze medal overall (he won FS!).

And it also says that Chinese fans, having apparently already bought out all stocks of the fluffy bear in the picture, are also now buying up the marker he used! I don't know that I believe that bit... I'd buy the bear, it's adorable.

His extraordinary flexibility allows him to perform almost impossible tricks for the rest and his absolute control and spatial coordination allow him to do quadruple jumps as if nothing. After perfectly mastering triple axel and quadruple toe and salchow, he became the first skater to do a quadruple loop. Not content with that, added the quadruple lutz. As if that wasn't enough, he began to present heart attack combinations. Now he plans the most difficult yet, the quadruple axel (jump forward four and a half turns). A movement of such difficulty that a priori it seems? impossible.

I totally believe it. The first time I saw him in Under Armour practice gear, I immediately went to find some for myself.
I didn't buy any, because the American sizes are too big in the waist. Such cruel irony. I'd buy that marker, too...

Fascinating hearing a ballet dancer's viewpoint on points of skating, even the ones he chooses (his comments on posture, shoulders, neck etc, and how he explains spinning as a dancer as apart from Yuzu's skating).
He may not be able to do the skate in front of his beloved local audience but I can't see him not doing something for them, depending on how far his training has been restored. It clearly means a lot to him and to them.
