Mao Asada - Midori Ito's 1995-1996 LP costume

This one was not really an inspiration...it was a 'direct' passing down of costume. Yes, Mao at that time was wearing the SAME costume by Midori. It was kind of like a tradition to pass down used costume among Japanese skaters (esp. ladies' skaters around Aichi area). There were cases such as Mao passing down her costumes to Kanako, and then Kanako to Mako(?) or other younger skaters maybe. Also I think some younger skaters from Howa Sportsland got to wear Akiko's dress. Not to mention there are also cases when sisters can share costumes since both are in skating.
I remember Mao said in the interview later on that the costume from Midori gave her a lot of power when skating.

I wouldn't have thought that a 26yo a 12yo could wear the same costume.

Pretty sure Akiko Suzuki had a dress that looked almost identical to Yuna Kim's Gershwin dress.

You can't argue with success. Plus it's economical!

I call that a win win!

Passing down costumes happens everywhere. In Detroit, there was the infamous Jerrod Swallow matador jacket. From time to time it got more or less bling.

I do remember Courtney Hicks wearing one of Sasha Cohen's dresses for her "Dark Eyes" program a few seasons ago?

Javier Fernández's 2013-2014 SP was inspired by a show number by Robin Cousins - Satan Takes a Holiday by Robin and Javi in that rather quirky costume (I wish they would have been inspired also by Robin's costume ).

Mikhail Kolyada in turn did his international breakthrough with an SP that was more than inspired by Javi's SP by Nikolai Morozov in 2010-11. They just changed the first part from rumba to tango. Javi and Kolyada. Come to think of it, also Kolyada's Elvis program owes more than a nod to Javi's Elvis. And now he will do a Chaplin... :scratch2: Though I have never seen any credits given for the inspiration (but it seems that someone in Kolyada's camp took a close look at what Javi was doing).

Program Muse Exogenesis Part 3. Everyone after Jeremy Abbott from his.

Yes I know the Kerrs skated to it years prior but there was no take off of this song and program until after Abbott.

I imagine Michelle Kwan inspired the majority of East of Eden programs. The only use of this music that I recall prior to Michelle skating to it was a program of Underhill and Martini's (Canada), from 1986 I believe (a pro-am I think). They skated to the vocal version entitled An American Hymn, sung by Pavarotti, I believe. It was pulled from youtube years ago. I still don't think anyone can top her pro am version from the mid 1990's--such a masterpiece.
