First saw him at Philly. Love his jumps. So secure and “floaty.”

Darian was such a delight at the Philadelphia comp. So smooth for such a tall skater (Of course the Afro probably adds two inches to my perception of his height). Many skaters are overwhelmed by a James Brown program, but Darian had the personality to pull it off.

And evidently Darian qualified for Jr Worlds with his scores at this comp?!

Even though he did not make the free and had some mistakes in the short at Junior Worlds, I so enjoyed his performance. His love for skating is clear. Hope he will be at the Philadelphia comp next year.

Darian is back on the ice per his Instagram!

I saw that today too! So glad for him.

I hope he gets the chance to compete internationally sometime before Four Continents this season, though who knows when we'll be able to travel again to anywhere beyond New Zealand...

Darian at the Hollins Cup. He's cut the Afro somewhat, but still has it. The costume is less bright than some in the past. ;)

I love this choice of music: The Way You Look Tonight and especially Nat King Cole "L.O.V.E."

The short program is Aladdin, and suits him very well. He has lost none of his charm on the layoff.

He attempted 3A in both programs, which is new. Both called << but he stood up, and it's good to see. If Brendan does not continue - and I am not sure he will - there is a large vacancy at the top. Following in Brendan's footsteps would be difficult for any Australian man, but Darian could give it a good showing.

Darian just won the national title!
He skated a good short to 'Friend Like Me' with 3A< 3T-3Tq and 3Lz (and spins all level 4!) to take a slight 5 point lead.
Then he had a great free starting with a clean 3A (q), then clean triples until the last combo with a minor mistake : doing the 2T-2A instread of a 3T-2A. He wins by 24 points over silver medalist Charlton Doherty.
I've checked an he has the minimum TES for 4CC which would be his second ISU championship after Junior Worlds 2020. I hope he can stay injury free until then and I wish him the best in Colorado Springs next February.

Unfortunately that choice of music got my video of him yanked within 30 seconds of me posting it.
