Medvyedeva was sure that she had lost unfairly.
No.
“Just not to allow any discussion about my words: I just want to say the judging was really justice. The judging was correct,” Medvedeva said. “I saw how Alina worked all the time, and she worked really hard. I don’t know why a lot of people decided I think the judging was incorrect.”

Not to mention the other stuff about Eteri neglecting Sasha, Anna, Aliona and Alina for Evgenia if she hadn‘t left. If she had preferred Evgenia that much, she would have made Alina‘s programs easier in the Olympic season but she didn‘t and gave her a fair chance at victory. It‘s total rubbish to suggest this suddenly would have changed.
Evgenia knew why she left and it wasn‘t just hurt feelings and her being a prima donna who couldn‘t handle her loss. But the intent is pretty clear, the attempted story line an effective one, even if it is not based on the truth.
“The outstanding athlete, the star, dethroned by a younger colleague, goes on to bitterly betray her coach and country and falls deeply to remain nothing more than a shadow of herself. Leaving behind said coach hardened by betrayal, her soul so shadowed that she does not trust anyone, let alone the press, as both parties are on their way to figure skating glory and revenge alike.“
Sounds good, doesn’t it? It‘s entertaining - like the Game of Thrones version of figure skating . But it doesn‘t change the fact that the whole article reads like a fanfiction. Roughly based on reality but with so many subjective opinions and feelings from the author thrown in that it should be noted as such.
