Congrats to Shun! The jumps weren't quite there in the FS, but you can see he has huge potential. Very nice feel for the music.

Congratulations to Shun. Just qualifying for the JGPF is great, let alone to take the gold medal. Loved his FS Kiss & Cry. Not sure who was more excited -- him or the coach! What a great moment.

Adding -- corrected my post. I meant the first time he qualified for the JGPF, not the first year he is skating as a junior.

It was incredible. And he managed to impress my figureskating averse daughter by his love for panda bear stuffy toys, so that’s all around awesome :)

Does anyone else absolutely love the music arrangement of R&J that he skates to? I'm usually very critical when it comes to arrangements and music cuts (coming from a music background) but I love his so much every time I watch him skate to it.

The final...... so good. I'm so proud, especially after how devastated he was at junior nats.

Edit: I still think Yuma has better performance/musical interpretation (at least at the moment), but both skaters have their strengths.

Here the link of Shun's free skate at JO, posted in JPN women thread.
I'm happy to see him in better shape than last season. His 4lz really looks like a pop. Same with the 4T, especially the one in combination, for a moment i thought he did 3T-3T.
He really need consistency to be competitive. If he can deliver a program like that in every competition, he will get close to 190 and that's a competitive score. No step-outs would be better but this is already good compared to last season.
I wonder what happened to 4lo. The jump was looking promising.

And the costume is fab. Reminds me Takahito Mura.

During his SkAm day 1 runthru Shun fell near the boards then left the ice before practice was over holding his left shoulder
Looked very similar to what happened to Tatsuya Tsuboi at Kinki Regional a couple weeks back.
Praying that Shun's injury is minor and he'll be able to still compete in good health
He looked in top form was having a really strong practice up until that point
