Diana Mukhametzianova (Russian: Диана Дамировна Мухаметзянова) and Ilya Mironov (Russian: Илья Михайлович Миронов) are Russian junior pair skaters. Diana was born on September 18, 2003 in Kazan, Russia, and Ilya on April 17, 2001 in Moscow, Russia. They teamed up in 2017 after they both switched to pair skating. Neither one has had another partner.

What makes this team especially interesting is that she is a really good jumper. They do 3Lz+2T+2T and 3F in FS. They finished 6th at the 2019 Russian Junior Championships and 5th at the 2019 Russian Cup Final. In 2019-20, they became the Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalists, the Winter Youth Olympic Games silver medalists, and the 2020 Junior Russian Cup Final gold medalists.

They are coached by Vladislav Zhovnirsky, Philip Tarasov and Arina Ushakova in Moscow.

They are assigned to JGP Croatia and even though Russian Fed will surely sub in Artemeva/Nazarychev, M/M should still keep their spot because they placed better than Vislobokova/Briukhanov who also holds a spot at JGP Croatia. Russia will likely sub out either Vislobokova/Briukhanov or Kostiukovich/Ialin in JGP Croatia to make room Artemeva/Nazarychev. It is also possible for them to sub out Pepeleva/Pleshkov or Shcheglova/Kalashnikov at JGP Poland but that seems unlikely since this event is held next week already and they have no reason to give a 2nd spot to Vislobokova/Briukhanov who placed only 4th at their first event. In theory it is still possible that they would sub in Kostiukovich/Ialin at JGP Poland but that seems unlikely since they already subbed in Shcheglova/Kalashnikov for that event. If anything K/I would rather be subbed out in JGP croatia than subbed in at JGP Poland.

Their side by side jumps are really impressive, but they really deserve better packaging. The costume choice is like if they lived 20-30 years ago. Fashion changed, they don’t want to be standing out from the wrong reasons. Fresh, modern look would suit them much better.

I really like their short program music choice - Crack of Doom by The Tiger Lillies. When I saw their performance from Chelyabinsk, at the beginning of program I was just thinking: "What a freaky music. It’s wierd." But they hadn’t even finished the program and I realized that I like it. Very aggressive and different program which really suits them. Their strongest elements are side by side jumps. They have 3Lz and also 3F in FS, it’s really unique in pairs. Good luck in JGPF Torino. :cheer2:

They got rid of their Crack of Doom SP :sad4: , but they still performed very well and they’re third after SP, but tomorrow it’ll be very tough for them to retain medal place. Hope they can manage it. Good luck!

(https://www.goldenskate.com/2019/12/panfilova-and-rylov-it-was-a-practice-version/) Ilya for Golden Skate:

“It could have gone better, but considering we changed our program less than a month ago, I think it was OK,” offered Mironov. “We didn’t decide to change it, our coaches did. I think we understand this program better and it shows our quality more. I wouldn’t say I like it more, but the music is much wider and freer and I think it is better for us than the previous one. The free program is still all the same, though.”

Wow! What a superb performance from them today. The best FS of the whole field. :yahoo: They nailed 3Lz+2T+2T also 3F and take silver, just 0.86 point behind the winners. :hap57: I love them. Next step Russian Nationals.

Not sure if during the season they changed their costumes or if they have the same ones that they wore at the earlier competitions this season, but somehow they grew on me. I found them really enjoyable at this last competition. They have the jumps. Just a bit of work on their elements to add the wow factor on the rest of their elements, to force the judges to give them better GOE, and improve a tiny bit their basic skating (between the elements) to increase the PCS and they can be the best junior pair next season. They could be unbeatable. I am definitely a fan now! :hap10:
