This is the first season I'm planning on watching figure skating throughout the season. I'm in the US. To watch all the Grand Prix events, etc, do I need the Ice Network subscription? Or are they televised as well?

IceNetwork is no more but you can watch all the big events with NBC Sports Gold which like the IceNetwork you will need a subscription.

If you have cable TV, figure skating is televised on NBCSN as well as on the Olympic channel.

Questionable live streams are in your future!

NBCSN and NBC are going to be your best bets for TV channels showing the competitions. I usually end up watching a lot via Youtube.

Some stuff won't be televised live, in which case if you still want to watch live soyouwanttowatchfs.tumblr.com is your new best friend. ;)

In the past, using a VPN to watch CBC live streams was a good option for international events (with the suirprising exception of Skate Canada International). But the CBC coverage is in question this year.

USFS Fan Zone gradually will be offering videos of international galas from this season, per the release schedule here:

First up: 2019 Skate America Gala, Sunday, Jan. 5, 7 p.m. ET.

Then another one each Sunday thru Mar 1 ... and Worlds gala "late March/early April."

Galas from all GPs + GPF + Euros + Four Continents + Worlds.

(No Junior Worlds. Fingers crossed that it will be easily accessible elsewhere.)

ETA (on Mar 3):

Good news: Junior Worlds gala streaming will be available on Skating ISU's YouTube channel. :yay:

BTW, although USFS did say that Worlds gala eventually will be available on Fan Zone, I am not sure whether that still is true. I think maybe it ("ISU Skating Awards"/gala) also will be on Skating ISU's YouTube?

Are they the whole galas or the bits and pieces shown on TV?

I do not know whether these international galas have been shown on U.S. television at all -- even as bits and pieces??

USFS fan zone's video of the J/GPF gala is 2:13:31 in length.
I believe that it includes the whole gala (although for my own viewing, I chose to skip ahead just to certain parts of the whole gala).

(And I believe -- but do not know -- that the other USFS fan zone offerings also are videos of the whole gala.)

Sorry - I was thinking of the US Nationals gala, which was definitely shown in bits and pieces as I watched in the arena and on tv
