Here are some active links for archiving or watching the 2004 Worlds in Dortmund, another competition that was hard to document. Some of the links I found only by making typos when searching so they are rare - enjoy!

Well I'm sorry this may sound too nationalistic for international forum.

2003-04 was best season for Japanese Ladies as winning all major titles except Euro

World Shizuka Arakawa
4CC Yukina Ota
GPF Fumie Suguri
JrWorld Miki Ando

and there was a promising novice skater called Mao Asada waiting junior debut.

I was dreaming in those days that we will see our version of Yagudin / Plushenko rivaly
for Ando / Asada as they started skating in same FS club in Nagoya.

Unfortunately it was not as big, and fortunately it was not as fierce.

I was also dreaming to see 3A/quads revolution for Ladies skating
earlier than about 15 years actually likely come true.

I think your comments are those of a proud fan! I loved all of these skaters and still enjoy watching them to this day. I love to watch the Japanese skaters at any event for their soft knees, interesting programs and have enjoyed many more skaters since Mao, Akiko, Daisuke, Nobu, Takahiko, and more

Ah 2004, my favourite Plushy FS, although this was not a very good outing for it.

Still considering the injuries Plushy had at the time, I'm surprised he could walk let alone skate and win!

I remember that Fumie Suguri said to American media in 2002 or 2003 that
figure skating is minor sports in Japan (unlike United States).

Several years later, it turns opposite.

In terms of popularity, it is like zero-sum game.
Because number of podium/medal of major competition are same,
if someone get it, others lose it.

Thank you. It bring back a lot of memories. Many of them are my favorite programs from my favorite skaters. Nutcracker for Shen/Zhao, Nijinsky from Plushenko, etc.

It is still a perfect program to me despite the fall. To this day, his Nijinsky program still tops my list and nothing else comes close. It is one of a kind program. The music is mysterious, and his skating was intriguing, breathtaking and commanding.

Oh yes it's my favourite program ever, if someone told me that I could only watch one figure skating program for the rest of my life, it'd be Nijinsky hands down. I loooove it!

Always fun to see a fellow fan of that program

This was Shizuka Arakawa's finest performance ever.

I also also remember the battle for bronze in the men's event. It was a forgone conclusion that Plushenko and Joubert would be 1-2, but there was a youthful newcomer that no one had heard of named Stephane Lambiel who could spin his socks off. Rising to the challenge, home-town hero Stefan Lindemann skated totally beyond himself in the LP and snatched the medal.

This event ended Michelle Kwan's record of 8 straight world championships, 1996-2003, in which she won the gold or silver. In the LP an idiot dressed in a tutu and advertising an on-line gambling site rushed onto the ice while Michelle was warming up and chased her around the rink before security (not wearing skates) could catch him.
