Please, please, please, everybody, if you have never seen this one you owe it to yourself to click. (Shen and Zhao Turandot)

One of the most emotionally affecting programs of all time. The audience was spellbound. In fact, I think that there was a large section of Chinese and Chinese-American fans from the Washington DC area who had come out just to see this pair.

This was Michelle Kwan's last (of five) world championship victories. A superbly constructed program. Irina Slutskaya did not compete because of illness, but teammate Elena Sokolova took up the slack and gave Michelle a run for her money with a 7 triple performance, the finest of her career.

Michelle had considered retiring that season, having been disappointed at the 2002 Olympics. But when Skate America came around in the fall of 2002, it turned out that expected headliners Sarah Hughes, Sale and Pelletier, and Berezhnaya and Sikharulidze, all withdrew (and men's champion Alexei Yagudin only did the short program and was unable to skate the long.)

Faced with a box office dud, the USFSA made Michelle an "offer she couldn't refuse" to come in at the last minute and save the event. (In fact, she even quoted Michael Corleone in The Godfather -- "just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in.") She won. According to the Grand Prix rules that year, that one first place turned out to qualify her for the Grand Prix Final even though she did not skate in a second event. But she declined.

However, since Worlds was in the USA that year, she felt re-energized enough to go to US Nationals (winning her 7th title) and the world championship.

Thanks a lot, labgoat! Will enjoy playing many of those today. I could watch Denkova/Staviski's original dance ten times, I think. I never get tired of that.

So glad you enjoyed it. I've watched many of the programs individually, but watching them in the context of the entire competition brings these events back to life.

Since skating is getting harder and harder to watch online, i thought i would share my links. I chose these years specifically because they do not have established playlists and the videos are skated all over in bits and pieces.

I have found playlists seem to get videos blocked more easily - once you find one video, others are named similarly and are easy to find.

I can remember cheering and tearing up over this program. No wonder Sui & Han wanted to honor their great coaches!

Strangely, this is one of the Worlds I remember very well, especially the Ladies, the Ice Dance and the Pairs. The first because to me these were two of Michelle's most memorable programmes (although I realise that others may disagree) with her SP with no smile but so impressive and her LP which was so musical. Both were outstanding choreographically. and she didn;t even do a triple-triple. Is this the last time a lady won with no triple-triple? I don't know, I do know Michelle has done triple-triples in her time. And to see Elena again, whose skates I also remember very well. The freshness in her skating, technically very strong. One can never forget her expression and her joy.

I also remembered Shen and Zhao's Turandot very well. Probably because it made me cry (and it did again just now). A programme that never fails to move me. It's also the worlds when I started to enjoy Totmiannina and Marinin for the first time despite this not being their best programme ever - but their 'blandness' had gone, making it a memorable programme all the same. Maria Petrova and Alexei Tikhonov were also back in the game, and I have always liked their skating, so that was memorable too.

What about Ice Dance? Well, I just love Shae Lynne and Victor who deservedly won (albeit with only a slight difference), but their Exhibition was the one one I remembered best of all - even though I had to look that one up elsewhere. Victor's moves are superb. Even Yuzu could take lessons from Victor on that score. And here's (part 2 of the) the exhibtion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huN_kHA1JOI. Watch out for Victor and Shae Lynne.

However, somehow the men's event rings no particular bells. I know Plushenko did well, and a rewatch just now proved that. But I hadn't remembered his performance (sorry Plushyfan) and the same applies to the other men during this event.

However, another compliment to Labgoat is justified. You've given me more to watch than the ISU or - worse - my Television broadcaster ever did, and I haven't even finished your list of WC yet!

I am happy to share...skating can be such a relief at this time and entire competitions are hard to find. My lists have been a work in progress for many years. At this eventmy skate of the championships was Shen & Zhao FS, i too loved the emerging stye of Totmianina & Marinin. I was thrilled by Ryan Jahnke's Qualifying skate and the debut skate of Carolina Kostner.

I hope that my collection of links will represent as many of the skaters who appeared at Worlds. It is a wonderful achievement and i love to make them available. Hopefully these links will provide you with some new favorites. Watching an event in its entirety provides us with a snapshot into the skating quality, trends and technical expertise of the field as a whole and helps explain who finished where in a way that individual viewing of skates does not.
