Boitano's era was called "Acrobatic" by Cecil Grafström.

From Button(1952) to Cousins(1980) Olympic champions just land few triples up to 3Lo.
Hamilton(1984) was 1st Olympic champion to land 3Lz.
Boitano(1988) was 1st Olympic champion to land 3A.

I think he was one of skaters in 1980's who caused revolution.

From Yamaguchi(1992) to Zagitova(2018) Olympic champions just land triples up to 3Lz.
Like Boitano and his rivals did in 1980s, current top ladies skaters are starting revolution.

I mean Boitano and current top Russian girls are in same boat.

 It seems obvious. "Acro" means height. If you suffer from acrophobia, you are afraid of heights.

Over the years figure skating has become more about jumping into the air and less about having your feet on the ground (or your blades on the ice).

By the way, I would give Brian Orser a lot of credit for the triple Axel revolution of the 1980s.
