It was quite the story, back in the day. After a successful junior career together, Auerbach dumped Anissina so he could skate with their training mate, with whom he’d fallen in love. Anissina reached out to Peizerat and to Victor Kraatz, both then at liberty. IIRC Kraatz said he never received her letter, but fortunately Peizerat received his and was interested. Anissina left Russia for France, and the rest is history. Take that, Auerbach!
