FS from the test skates: https://youtu.be/U5xOTeCJPSs?t=1955 (didn't find separate video, so this is the time from the pairs video)

Some harsh moments, but once again it's just the beginnning of the season, they also showed some strong parts and definitely have the future.

Yasmina and Ivan will compete at the stage 4 of the Russian cup in Kazan this week. I almost wish they would have signed up for stage 1 or 3 because here they will face Boikova/Kozlovskii, Mishina/Galliamov, Tarasova/Morozov, Panfilova/Rylov and Vasilieva/Volodin, and possibly Mukhametzianova/Mironov. Here's to a great performance and qualification for nationals. Once again, I am extremely impressed by how fast Yasmina has picked up on pairs. And I hope that she has not lost her other triples, so that maybe one day Balchenko can catch up.

Yasmina and Ivan are officially qualified to senior nationals. So impressive for a pair that was so newly formed, with Kadyrova so new to pairs. They will be fighting in a very deep field.

They have a bronze medal and a spot on the main national team on the line. Akpova and Rakhmainin beat them in the free at nationals. Peplina and Pleshkov will also be looking to try and get back on the team. If they get beaten here they could get bounced back to reserve team.

I wouldn’t risk that. It is the first year they are going to be on the main team (last year they were only in the reserve). At this moment the top 4 pairs are quite out of reach, but there is ongoing fight for Russian senior team 5-6. Panfilova/Rylov, Kadyrova/Balchenko, Akopova/Rakhmanin and Pepeleva/Pleshkov want to make sure they firmly settle on one of those spots (at least until they manage to push themselves higher). The only way to achieve it is with consistent high results. Saying that they have nothing to risk is not correct. If theyare beaten a few times because they took silly risks, the judges will remember that the other pairs are stronger and it will be reflected in their marks!

I guess you have a point, then I hope they will go to a smaller (international) event later this season, I really want to see a quad in pairs and I was losing hope until Trusova/Chen, but now that Yasmina/Ivan are a force to be reckoned with, I am more hopeful that we will see one in the not so distant future.....

If they do not go for a quad I hope that we will see one of the more difficult 3-3's that Yasmina has been teasing on instagram.

With 4th at Rostelecom, 6th at nationals, and THOSE jumps, I don't see a way they don't get on the main national team. But I gues syou are right, they have to fight and constantly prove themselves. We will also have to see how growing goes for Yasmina and her jumps, and their pairs elements since he is already only 20cm taller than her.

According to the Russian forum, Kadyrova/Balchenko and Akhanteva/Kolesov have split up. Kolesov will be skating with Kadyrova.
