Mana is looking strong!

She landed a triple axel in the short program for the ice show and she attempted another one in the free program. As a reigning junior national champion, Kawabe is the most promising skater in her age group.

I must say I was super impressed and surprised with Mana's freeskate at the Japan Open. Not only holding the edge on her beautiful triple axel was engaging, but she skates with even more power, expression, maturity and confident commitment than before, her long flowing hair style was also a nice touch. She also had better flow and height in her jumps while maintaining fine flexibility in her spins as demonstrated in her Biellmann. However, the superlowballing of her PCS almost below 60 was upsetting and stood out like a sore thumb, especially since she had the highest tech score for the women. Her unfavored status makes me want to be a fan of hers even more.
