There is one last UN-cancelled competition:

The World Junior Synchro Championships in Nottingham, UK, is on.

I particularly liked Nexxice in the SPLATGOES.

I am sad to see that the US Junior teams who were scheduled to compete, Skylines and Teams Elite, did not go, I presume due to travel issues due to coronavirus.

Results of the SP:

Btw, the SP video is still Up,

and the FS is at 10:30 AM EDT Saturday, March 14

Actually, the US jr teams were there and were told to return home on Thursday. Same for the Spanish team who left after the SP.

I guess I'm inconsistent because, in singles skating, I prefer the commentators to remain silent during the performance, but in synchro, I genuinely appreciate the educational commentary throughout the skate. Go figure...

Worlds was supposed to be in Lake Placid. The US has banned travel from all Schengen countries plus the UK, plus China. This means skaters from Finland and many other countries would not be able to compete.

Sorry I should have specified, I meant Figure Skating Worlds, not Synchro worlds. Why is it unsafe to hold one but not the other? I would think it would make more sense to cancel all events under their umbrella.

It was all a matter of timing. Junior synchro worlds got their event in under the wire. Senior figure skating worlds were not to start until this coming Wednesday or Thursday. If junior synchro worlds was held any later, it would have been cancelled, too.

It depended on geography as well as timing. England/Great Britain/United Kingdom is/are behind other jurisdictions in cancelling events and imposing travel restrictions. Event in England went ahead; those in the US and Canada got axed.

Team Junost's fp is making me actually enjoy Scheherezade! Such great timing of the moves to the music. Intricate transitioning of one move to the next.

Jr.WFS went ahead as well in Tallinn. So, at least all the juniors had the final competition. Canada had closed the borders yesterday, & five provinces declared the state of emergency, so even if they didn’t cancel it last Wednesday, it wouldn’t have gone ahead...
