- to take some online classes
- to read as much as it possible. Not pretending being productive, really do it daily.

Here's a little brain teaser for people who watch a lot of videos (as we probably all do ), as you may know, Satomi Ito has published a book on her costumes - I may not be able to read a word but I have ordered it, oh yes - and she has just tweeted a set of little pictures, details from a range of them with no names....

How many can you put a skater's name and/or program to?

also been doing strength and balance training and have hugely increased my spiral height.

Next off-ice training goal: 3+ revolutions of a backspin on my Edea spinner!

No 3+ revs yet, but I can now verrrrry slowly carry exactly 20 pounds less than my entire body weight in cat litter from my car to my house. So yeah, strength training is going pretty well.

Broke my left wrist about 3 weeks ago ... hit my head hard and the wrist took the brunt of the fall so was saved from more serious head injury.... not a big deal; injury is common for me...cast comes off this week.... so watching alot of TV, documentaries are at the top of my list though they can get a bit off putting after a while, then I switch to sci-fi films and series catch up... audiobooks, playing with dogs, cats; animal chores still need to be done, weeding, painting small furniture, mainly flea-market finds, cooking, catching up on sleep, fine motor stuff like sewing and planting will have to wait. Staying active, outdoors mostly. Amazing how, with the loss of regular motor skills we manage to accommodate by figuring out ways to do things in a different way... human resilience I guess... :agree2: thankfully well and safe otherwise. .

oh no @elbkup, wishes for a full recovery Sounds as though you are right handed, so it was not your dominant hand?

I literally feel your pain, as I broke my right wrist last year. I needed surgery and was without a functional right hand for quite some time. I never ever ever realized how difficult life was without the dominant hand But my docs said the same thing when I castigated myself for my FOOSH (fall on outstretched hand), that's OK, your wrist hitting the concrete is not great, your head hitting the concrete would have been worse.

But I did learn to use the dictation so I could stay on Goldenskate; you are right, resilience is a wonderful thing

Thanks el... I remembered your injury when this happened to me; not fun trying to accommodate for dominant hand.. you are right, left is not dominant but it is amazing how much depends on it.. I have injured my right before and my sister popped a tendon in her right (dominant) hand just about the same time I did this, she has surgery Thursday... not good but we mend and soldier on smiling...

I recently had the wind slam the storm door on my left middle finger, breaking the tip and ripping off the nail. Driving myself to the ER was a trip

I thought typing would be better when the splint came off, but I had forgotten that the letters E, D, and C, are typed by the left middle finger. :dumb:

BTW, this is definitely my quarantine anthem:

But things are getting better here in CT.

I got my hair done!

Some hair places have opened here in MA but I’m still reluctant to go in. Even though I already wanted a haircut before all this started. My baby has reached the hair pulling stage and I really need to get it out of her reach 🙄

Oh my goodness, elbkup, Doris, I hope your injuries heal up soon!

Reminds me of that time I destroyed my entire right arm from too much writing and heavy lifting and had to operate equipment that most people have never heard of with my left hand. Thank God I got a few of my dad's lefty genes and am actually pretty ambidextrous.

I've already mentioned this a few times, but during the lockdown, I have been spending the mornings working on the computer, and then spending the afternoons watching old films. Most of the time, I have been managing 2 films every afternoon. But, some days I also fit in a third film in the evening.

During a PM she sent me, LadyB asked what films I had watched recently. That started me thinking. So, I decided to look up the TV schedules since the start of March and make a list of all the films I have watched since then. And I got a real shock at just how many I had watched!

I also watched the first 45 minutes of another film, “Schizo” (1976), but stopped when it reached the first murder. I don’t like horror films. The only reason I watched the start of this one was because the main character was a figure skater, and I wanted to see if there was any skating shown.

Generally speaking, I don’t like war films. A few have slipped in, but they weren’t really war films. They were mostly comedy films that just happened to be set during the war. I like comedy films. A LOT.

You know, there is a lot of truth in the cliché that “the old ones are the best”.

By the end of this lockdown, I'm going to:-

1. Be 42lbs lighter.
2. Be a lot more flexible.
3. Have my accounts for last tax year and the one just begun all up to date.
4. Use up all the non-stretch fabric in my stash(es) and have a whole new wardrobe.
5. Get the dog enthusiastic about walking.
6. Collate all the #ConversationsWithSpouse that people seem to like on my social media into some kind of chronological format that isn't just on social media.
7. Replace all the broken strings on my harps and play each one.
8. Read all the books in my "To Read" pile.
9. Decide whether or not I can cope with growing out my hair so I am no longer exasperating my hairdresser by the time I can go back to him.
10. Vacuum.

Maybe...

Well, I did amazingly well with that list!

Okay, that was a big, fat, juicy fib.

1. I'm about the same, maybe a bit heavier.
2. Possibly less flexible.
3. Er, no, but I am keeping an up to date spreadsheet of this tax year's earnings.
4. Much, much less fabric, but mostly used for masks! All that worry about to how earn my living while the rinks and dance studios are shut proved unfounded, as I've not worked such long hours in years (12 hour days) so we haven't starved (see 1 above.) I now also have the money for a new coverstitch machine (oh, the fun I'm going to have with new legging designs!) and my coaching stuff. I did manage to make 3 new summer dresses for myself so then, obviously, the weather turned cold and wet and I'm now wearing my winter gear again...
5. The dog still likes to be carried and only walks when he wants to. Which isn't when it's raining.
6. I've collated some of the #ConversationsWithSpouse, hopefully enough to keep the publisher from nagging too much.
7. The harps haven't even been uncovered, much less played. The big ones are still strangely shaped coat racks.
8. Nope. I started one book. It's still unfinished.
9. I'm growing it. Sorted. (I look like a grumpy Shetland pony but that's normal for me.)
10. I did this. Twice. Nobody's visiting so nobody will know. (Also a bit of a fib, as I use a broom most of the time rather than the useless vacuum cleaner!)

Life in Darkest Cornwall is still quiet, although there is now a lot more traffic as many people are returning to work or driving to the pretty places to "exercise" and walk their dogs. I'm not because I took my car off the road at the end of March and it's still untaxed and insured. I work from a studio in my garden, so the commute is literally a few metres from the front door of the cottage.

Rinks in the UK are possibly starting to open from 6th July (Planet Ice) but there's absolutely no word from my "local" rink (Plymouth) as to when - or if - it will reopen. Coaches have heard nothing, which is not helpful. When we do get notification of a reopening date (please, please, please let it reopen!), I shall immediately set my alarm for 6am and do 2 hours of off-ice and flexibility training before breakfast every day. Breakfast will not be chocolate. Neither will dinner...

CaroLiza_fan...that is a lot of films. I pretty much only watch TV, and I watch a ton of it...but that is a LOT of films. I am impressed.

Thanks guys. I was amazed at the number too. When I started making the list, I was doing it off the top of my head and was shocked when it reached 50. I would never have imagined that, once I started looking up the schedules, it would reach three times that.

But when you think that that is over a period of 3 months and I was watching at least 2 a day, you can kinda understand how it got so big.

I am one of those people that is more productive in the morning. I'm no good in the afternoon. So, I try to do everything in the morning, and then relax in the afternoon. And I have found that if you tape the films and wind through the adverts, you can usually fit 2 films into the afternoon.

The length of the ad breaks are getting ridiculous. A film that takes 2 hours to watch live can usually be watched in 1h 30m (give or take 10 minutes) when you take out the adverts. And some channels are even worse than that. So, I have got to the stage that I don't watch any films live any more. Far more economical use of time that way.

Yesterday, I watched 2 longer films. In the afternoon, I watched “Antony And Cleopatra” (1972), and in the evening I watched “Multiplicity” (1996). I didn't really enjoy the earlier film. The characters didn't introduce themselves or each other, so for a big chunk of the film you were trying to work out who was who. The other 2 Cleopatra films in the list, “Caesar And Cleopatra” (which I watched on Friday) and “Serpent Of The Nile” (which I watched a couple of weeks ago), were far more enjoyable. As for “Multiplicity”, it was just hilarious! It is not often that something makes me burst out laughing, but I did a few times during it.

As for today, this afternoon will be “Rhythm Serenade” (1943) and “French Dressing” (1964). And this evening will be “King Arthur: Excalibur Rising” (2017). I have to be honest, I like Vera Lynn as an actress, but I don't like her singing voice. And for some reason, I have a feeling she is going to be doing quite a bit of singing in “Rhythm Serenade”... :p

Anyway, it's time for dinner. Have a good Sunday.

is the King Arthur with Charlie Hunnam? if so, don't waste your time.

No. But, funnily enough, the film you are talking about, “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” (2017), was actually on Network 2 on Saturday night, and I did tape it. However, I had miscalculated how long it was, and didn't get the last 45m or so of it. So, I deleted what I did get.

The film I am talking about is this one:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5988966/

And I got a shock not long into it. A few minutes into it, my Mum said "is that Paddy's Da?", referring to the father of one of the vets in soap opera "Emmerdale". And it was! Although, he was using a different accent in this film. And she also recognised the actress playing Morgana, and it turned out that she had been in "Emmerdale" too!

Oh, and in case you are wondering, this was another film where I was spending a lot of time looking away from the screen. Far too much blood!

By the way, I am just finishing off my reply to your last PM. I'm at the stage of trying to get it to fit the character limit! I'm not actually that far above it this time, so knowing that you have seen my list will mean I can remove the bit where I tell you about it. Which will help.

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you. But, as I am sure you can understand, that list took a long time to compile! :drama:
