3. Dmitri Aliev first European Champion after Fernandez's 7 in a row.
4. P/C not winning Euros
5. B/K's bad FS at the GPF.

I take 'surprise' to mean only good unforeseen things (bad unforeseen things are shocks, not surprises), so:

1. Michal Brezina taking the small gold in the SP at Euros.
2. Niki Wories getting the increased Worlds TES minimums at the eleventh hour in the face of the ISU's determination to lock skaters like her out of Worlds.
3. Noemie Bodenstein winning silver at Swiss Nationals with a perfectly clean FS.
4. Darian Kaptich winning bronze at Australian Nationals in his domestic first senior season.
5. The Quebec government doing the right thing and cancelling Worlds.
6. Kevin Aymoz reaching the podium in his first GPF.

GOOD - Shoma's dramatic comeback in the second half of the season, even beating Yuzu at the Nats. Artur Danielian winning the Silver at the Euros.

BAD - Kevin Aymoz missing the Free skate at the Euros :sad4:, Shoma at IdF

Ugly - drama surrounding Morgan Cipres

Random - Trusova's freak fall before her SP at Rostelecom

1. Yuzu attempting 4A at GPF practice session (and it looking scarily closer than I imagined).
2. Sinitsina + Katsalapov winning Euros. Crazy when you think they just missed the podium last year.
3. Shoma having his redemptive skate and results at Japanese Nats.
4. Wakaba’s 3A - can’t wait to see it fully rotated and landed :hap10:
5. Yuzu bringing back Chopin and Seimei. I audibly gasped when I saw that.

1. P/C loss at Europeans. Not that I don't think it was warranted - I just didn't think the judges would pull the trigger.
2. All the buzz about the GPF showdown between Nathan and Yuzu, and how anti-climactic things turned out. It was a massacre, not two titans duking it out.
3. Brezina's SP win at Euros. Go cactus!
4. Mariah Bell at US Nationals. It was the first time I really understood why people love her so much.
5. The rapid fall and resurrection of Shoma Uno.
