Thanks for the info. Though it is interesting that Kadyrova is already a member of the senior team after one season in pairs and just competing in the Russian Cup. But I guess her partner cannot compete in juniors anymore.

Pepeleva/Pleshkov are also moving up from juniors to seniors.

For the splits we also have Efimova/Korovin with Korovin retired iirc.

Any idea about which junior pairs we might expect on the JGP circuit (if there is a JGP circuit that is?)? I'd say Akhantieva/Kolesov, Artemieva/Nazarychev and Mukhametzianova/Mironov seem obvious given their past results. Maybe also Petushkova/Malikov and Mukhortova/Evgeniev ?
Also are there any infos on Shcheglova/Kalashnykov. They had to JGP assignments last season, not exactly successful, and then nothing... They weren't at Junior Nats.

I guess we will see Shcheglova/Kalashnikov again in JGP (if there would be any of course). Though I'm not that oriented in pairs. Last season pairs like Mukhametzianova/Mironov and Artemeva/Nazarychev were completely new to me and left good impression, so I guess there can appear some new ones to me.

I also guess later in the season we would see Kunitsa with his new partner on some local junior competitions. He is still only 17 so for the next two or three seasons he can be in the junior national team.

Kadyrova/Balchenko is so promising.

They have the difficult and big jumps. Triple twist is surprisingly good with great amplitude despite her landing it hard sometimes.

Lifts are not bad but laboured sometimes. Really need to improve that as well as their speed.

They also have that "classic look" for a pair team.

Panfilova/Rylov for me is the biggest question mark. They are beautiful team but without the triple jumps it is hard to get out of Russia.

They were second on the senior Russian cup final, and this competition has always helped with selection to the national team. After all, they even beat Pepeleva/Pleshkov who is on the main senior team, so I think Kadyrova/Balchenko being in the reserve is well deserved. Yes, they did only one competition, but one could argue that Pepeleva/Pleshkov also didn’t have that strong season, didn’t even managed to get to JGPF, but then they managed well senior nationals and based on this one strong competition they are in the senior team, so why shouldn’t Kadyrova/Balchenko be in reserve team based on one competition?

I didn't say they don't deserve it, i was just surprised, expecting them at least one season in juniors. As for pepeleva/Pleshkov, they are a makeweight for now.

Vislobokova/Briukhanov split up

Selivanova/Simenenko split up

Akopova paired up with Rakhmanin

Kostiukovich had tryout with Bushlanov but then she posted on her instagram photo with missing her tooth, so not sure if this will continue. This was before the pandemic, so not sure if the partnership will work out. Another rumour said that she skates with Kunitsa, who just moved from Tutberidze to pairs. We will see...

Ialin was skating with Valeria Ponosova (a pair skater, but was not very good yet last season).

Last season Labazina was on paper paired with Miroshkin but Miroshkin has been injured for the past about 4 years, so she went to skate with US guy T.J.Nyman. They just posted a nice triple twist on his instagram, so this partnership will hopefully continue.

Pepeleva/Pleskov deserve to be in senior team. If a pair do only one competition great, it needs to be the nationals because that decides about team (and funding) for the next season. However, but they will have to become super consistent otherwise after this season they will disappear to just B competitions.

Re: Kadyrova/Balchenko, he aged out, so there can’t be a few seasons in juniors. They do look really promising, but I am slightly worried about his jumps. Kadyrova was recently a single skater so for her the jumps shouldn’t be a problem, but Balchenko wasn’t super consistent when skating with his previous partner. It’s great that they are doing those hard jumps, but if he can’t land them consistently, it won’t go anywhere.

I'd like to wish all the best for the skaters this season, especially Tarasova/Morozov! :hap10:

I hope that Efimova can find a new partner too.

Vyslobokova apparently skates with Ivanov. I think he is not junior eligible anymore, so they will be skating seniors.

K/B have limited competition experience since they are new but IFAIK he hasn't missed a jump yet and they already tried triple Toe, loop and salchow successfully.

The only way to get them consistent is to compete more. Since their tech content is very competitive they have a high scoring ceiling.

I am wondering if T and M will get it together this year now that she will have had time to heal from her injury. Despite their differences can they work on creating some magic. Key will be health, ,relationship and some good material. They need to create a mood.

I've been watching a lot of Panfilova and Rylov while sheltered at home. Their short program lift astonishes me from start to finish. When it goes up, at the top he actually pops his grip and moves both his hands. Does anyone else do that? Has anyone else ever done that? It reminds me of Daniel Leyva and his "hop" on high bar.

National team is updated above.

Interesting notes:
Vika Vasilieva moved to pairs.
Dmitry Ialin is a memeber of a senior reserve team, but has no partner currently, Polina Kostiukovich is not listed.

Interesting info about Vasilieva! I think someone mentioned a while ago that she was among those who could reasonably expect a GP assignment. Or do I misremember?
