Still better than having no competitive experience at all for at least half of the season, I guess. If they do allow it, it could be especially useful for those foreign skaters from small feds who don't have much domestic competition. Maybe the guys who train in Russia (e.g. Kvitelashvili) or those from some European countries that might have less travel restrictions. Even without being scored, it could help raise their spirits and keep them motivated.

It was possible a few years ago for Goda Butkute / Nikita Ermolaev of Lithuania to take part in St. Petersburg Cup without being scored and advanced to Russian Cup. Maybe foreign skaters will be accepted to some regional competitions if they want. But we have enough competitive Nationals without them. :)

Okay so it seems we have a few issues. St Petersburg will not allow skaters less than 18 to compete at their regional competitions (St. Petersburg Cup, Panin Memorial) and these skaters will only be allowed to compete at 2 Cup events and that's it. Ban is in place until the New Year. Competitions in St Petersburg may or may not take place.

People on the Russian forums are not sure if it's only St Petersburg or if it includes other regions??? Dmitriev Sr is based out of Moscow (AFAIK) and he is the one who said the limit, for juniors, is 2 competitions. Then Velikova confirmed later.

Also confused on who is a junior? Those <18 or those deemed so by RusFed? For example is Mozalev a senior or is he a junior? Can he skate in only 2 events or more? Per the RusFed he is a senior (so more), per St Petersburg Fed a junior (2 only). Mass confusion yesterday and even more so today.

How all this affects the Moscow Championships among juniors and other junior competitions outside of St Pete remains to be seen. Lets see what the Fed says. But as of now, for the remainder of the year, St Petersburg's junior skaters can only compete at 2 Cup events and test skates. Stay tuned.

It seems that all single skaters born before 1st july 2016 will participate in senior domestic competitions this season (or at least those who can be potetially in the olympic team).

Samsonov will miss the skates of the junior Russian national team due to injury

Two-time Russian champion among juniors Daniil Samsonov will miss the test skates of the junior Russian national team due to injury, Alexander Kogan, Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), told RIA Novosti.

"Because of injury," - explained Kogan by phone the reason why Samsonov will not perform at test skates.

Source? Beause how do they qualify for Junior Nationals? That was only speculated for Kamila, no one else.

This is the closest thing I can find and was just published. About admitting other juniors. Piseev, when asked are the other girls offended about Kamila's possible admission to senior RC, just responded why? Kamila is special and the reigning JWC, she must be admitted. That the boys are talented, have more difficulties in the international arena, doesn't rule out more exceptions. No we can't admit every junior, that depends on the coach and federation (plus coaching council).

No one was named from the boys, I feel like that was just a cover to explain why one junior was singled out and are the rest offended (shrug). We'll see.

Tatyana Mishina: And so the season is without international starts, there will be no tournaments in St. Petersburg either. This is bad.

“I didn't know that they wanted to cancel all the competitions,” Mishina admitted. - I listened to the program “Overtime with Gennady Orlov” on Ekho Moskvy last week, in which it was said that there is a decree according to which they want to ban athletes under 18 from participating in competitions. Then for several days there was no confirmation, and I thought that nothing like this would happen ...

This is, of course, bad. The guys train in order to perform and compete. For them, this is exactly the incentive to keep in shape and roll out programs. And so the season is without international starts, so there will be no tournaments in St. Petersburg either ...

- How do students react to recent events?
- Our guys are preparing, while there are no decadent moods. Now they are preparing for the show in groups in St. Petersburg. They just wanted to clarify whether the figure skaters under 18 will skate. But today's news is unsettling. Perhaps Alena Leonova is already aware, although the general meeting of Federation members is in September.

Even Gennady Sergeevich said that the lack of competition is a disaster for athletes. It's not just about skaters, but all kinds of sports. Any competition is a real stimulus for everyday work. First we overcame the forced [spring-summer] break, got in shape, held a training camp, and now such news ...

Test skates will take place on August 26 - 28 in St. Petersburg. On September 3, a general meeting of the members of the St. Petersburg Figure Skating Federation will take place.

Five stages in four cities. Figure Skating Federation told about the calendar of the Russian Cup
- A version of the following calendar was circulating on the Web - Syzran, Moscow, Sochi, Kazan and Moscow again. Does it reflect reality?

- Yes of course. Could the calendar be expanded? There are very big difficulties now with obtaining permission for any mass event. There are many coordinating authorities, in each region you need to actually reach out to the governor, and for this to go through several levels of local authorities. We have to reinsure ourselves. The latest developments take into account the nuances of this year's international calendar, in particular, by dates.

I saw only talks, but allegedly Anna Frolova was admitted for the senior cup stages as well, reasons should be born before 1st july 2006 and having JGP entry the last season. I can't say it is true, my abilities in russian don't go so far to find reliable source.

I haven't seen any of that from Gorshkov and Kogan nor any of the coaches. The most reliable sources in Russia are TASS and RSport (Samokhvalov has lots of sources). Unless it is a direct quote, I take mostly everything else with a grain of salt.

But we should know soon enough. We only have so many days left before the 1st cup event and eventually the list of participants needs to be released. There is a limit on the number of participants they will allow due to COVID.

Whatever the case, hoping Samsonov recovers and it is not something career ending.

Also, Mozalev gets starts he needs

Probably just growth related injuries. Semenenko and Kondratiuk missed 1-2 seasons and they came back last year just fine. Too early to think about career ending injury I think.

Has Kolyada retired? I feel like I haven't heard anything from his camp in ages.
