Thank you for these links, labgoat. I attended this competition with my late wife and enjoyed it very much. It is nice to see the list of competitors again and watch some of the performances. What I found most interesting about attending competitions in person was being able to watch practices and being able to watch the less well known competitors who would never be shown on commercial TV. I especially enjoyed watching Ana Cecilia Cantu again—I really enjoyed her programs at the time. It was also nice to see Amanda and Daryl Yang as well. My wife and I got to know them and their mother well after seeing them several times on the Junior circuit.

In this competition I experienced one of the best practices that I have ever seen. It was a practice with the top pairs teams, probably between the short and long programs. I know the practice included the two top Chinese teams, Zhang/Zhang and Pang/Tong, and probably at least one of the Canadian teams, Dube/Davison or Duhamel/Buntin. They were taking turns doing throw jumps at one end of the rink. Each pair seemed to throw the lady even further than the previous pair and the audience was roaring after each throw.

I am very glad you enjoyed them PaulE - sounds like a wonderful time for you and your late wife. . I agree that practices are very interesting. Ana Cecilia was an unexpected joy when doing this search as were the Canadian pairs. Keauna & Rockne were a pleasure to watch and Meryl & Charlie skated one of my all time favorite free dances here.

I was fortunate to get to see Ana Cecilia again when she competed in Salt Lake City at a U.S. Classic. I had a chance to talk to her briefly and thank her for the enjoyment I got from her and her programs. I loved Keauna and Rockne and felt so sad when they did not qualify for the 2010 Olympics. As I recall, Rockne was nice enough to pass on their housing reservations in Vancouver to the couple that unexpectedly beat them at U.S. Nationals (I believe the couple was Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig). At the 2009 4CCs, in addition to watching Meryl and Charlie we were introduced to their mothers and found the mothers to be delightful people. Thanks again for the memories.

Wow!! Amazing!! Thank you Heavenly Joy and labgoat. :agree::love:

It was nice to see Caroline Zhang again with one of her better skates. I especially enjoyed her final spin (I think she called it a "pearl" spin) and seeing her smiling when she got her score.
