How about some war ponies? The sort that is paradoxically popular amongst skaters who might be trying to avoid warhorses (perhaps e.g. Sicuriadas, or Patrick Watson's music).

I think In This Shirt was a war pony that hit puberty in the last year or so...

ETA: Foal, rather!

Firebird: Tatsuki Machida
Les Miserables: I am really not find of the music..... but yes, Yuna Kim

Swan Lake: Hawayek and Baker. What?? You asked for my favourite!!!
Turandot: Shen and Zhao, but Shoma's not far behind :)

Schindler's List: a tie between Jason's and Joshua's, don't make me choose
Masquerade Waltz: pretty much everyone (at the first note, all my critical faculties go thataway, honest) but probably - if I had to pick - Mao Asada at the 2010 Olympics

Why is Lord of the Rings still not a warhorse. There's so much epic, emotional, prestigious music there. Are skaters scared of hobbits and wizards and talking trees? Let's go!

I can't think of too many skaters who have skated to music from LOTR. I am very happy that Todd E. skated to it @ the 2002 SLC Winter Olympics!

Warhorses - lots of great ones already mentioned, but here goes a few more

Samson & Delilah - Davis & White - 2009 Worlds (podium worthy, IMHO)
The Mission - Paul Wylie & Matt Savoie
Riverdance - Bourne & Kraatz & Jason Brown
Carmina Burana (O, Fortuna) - Paul Wylie
Turnadot - Shen & Zhao
1492 - Todd E. 2001 Worlds (I did love Elvis Stojko's 1492 & Hartshorn & Sweiding's version as well)
Swan Lake - Rudy Galindo - 1996 US Nationals
Bolero - Torvill & Dean
East of Eden - Michelle Kwan

What a great idea. Thanks for posting this thread!

Bolero: Torvill and Dean. Good second: Carolina Kostner
Carmen: Katharina Witt
Dark eyes: Both Wenjing Sui/Cong Han and Gabrielle Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron
Firebird: Tatsuki Machida
Les Miserables: Yuna Kim
Moulin Rouge (all versions): Ashley Wagner
Phantom of the Opera: Akiko Suzuki
Rach II: Natalia Mishkutionok/Artur Dmitriev
Romeo and Juliet: Marina Anissina/Gwendal Peizerat
Swan Lake: Rudy Galindo (his unforgettable skate at US Nationals in 1996)
Tosca: Michelle Kwan
Turandot: Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo

Some additional War horses with wonderful programmes (some already mentioned by others):
Schlinder's list: Both Julia Lypnitskaya and Jason Brown
River Dance: Shea-Lynn Bourne/Victor Kraatz and Jason Brown
Aranjuez: Michelle Kwan
(Swan Lake) and Black Swan: Kaetlyn Osmond

Although Wonderland may not be a Warhorse Irina Slutskaya's version at World's 2005 was wonderfully executed (and always moves me). Oh, and I do love Elvis Stojko's 1492: Conquest of Paradise (not a Warhorse yet I think).

Many of my favorites (Torvill & Dean’s Bolero, Anissina & Peizerat’s R&J, Shen & Zhao’s Turandot, etc), have already been mentioned, but I actually prefer programs to the “remix” versions for some of these. Namely—

DeMougeot/Le Mercier’s “Techno Habanera” take on Carmen (I also have a soft spot for a good male Carmen program—for example, Kolyada’s)
Daisuke Takahashi’s “Cyber Swan“ take on Swan Lake
Volosozhar/Trankov’s Black Swan

And special honors to Drobiazko/Vanagas’ Phantom program, probably the only one I actually like!

Yikes.

I'm old enough to remember when some of these weren't warhorses, but were fresh and exciting out-of-the-box music selections.

Bolero, for example, and when I first saw Brian Boitano skate to Music of the Night from Phantom... those were exquisite.
