Swiss Nationals, Sen. (15–16 Dec 2017) / Jun. (6–7 Jan 2018)

I didn't see a thread for this anywhere, so thought I'd start one, as the Olympic team might have been chosen but Europeans and Junior Worlds entrants are apparently still to be determined. The Swiss Elite FS/Ice Dance and Junior Ice Dance Nationals are currently underway in Neuchatel (December 15-16), and will be followed by Junior and Senior B Nationals in Morges on 6 and 7 January.

Results page is here: http://swissiceskating.ch/images/resultate/2017-2018/SM_Elite_2018/

Initial results from yesterday:

Stephane Walker is competing, but placed 4th in the SP with an overall score of 55.89 and 2 deductions (a fall and a time violation).

Elite ladies' SP, field of 16 skaters

1 Alexia PAGANINI: TCS 59.54 TES 33.09 PCS 26.45 6.69 6.56 6.56 6.63 6.63 0.00 #12

And just because I know she has a couple of fans here, Noemie Bodenstein is currently sitting in 5th place following the SP with a score of 46.01 - not quite her season's best, which was 46.39 at the Championnats Romands in November, but close!

Great job Stephane Walker on your National title win.

He rallied really well in the FS, didn't he? Experience does tell. And I understand that he and Paganini have both been named to the Olympic squad already, so they're all secure. Not sure about the pairs and dancers yet, though. And as the Olympics are so soon after Europeans, the federation might decide to send Yamada or Lehmann to Europeans instead of Paganini, and Todeschini instead of Walker.

Final results: Men's

1 Stéphane WALKER 196.87
2 Nicola TODESCHINI 175.80
3 Lukas BRITSCHGI 175.30

Nurullah Sahaka placed fourth with 169.25, which makes me happy because I liked what I saw of his skating on the Cup of Tyrol livestream.

Final results: Ladies

1 Alexia PAGANINI 160.91
2 Yoonmi LEHMANN 142.57
3 Yasmine YAMADA 141.74

Noemie Bodenstein placed fourth with 134.56, beating her Championnats Romands score by about 3 points and her Cup of Tyrol junior comp score by just over 1 point.

Final results: pairs

1 Ioulia CHTCHETININA / Mikhail AKULOV 134.73

Final results: elite ice dance

1 Victoria MANNI / Carlo RÖTHLISBERGER 143.09

Final results: junior ice dance

1 Cindy-Lilli ZIMMERLI / Volodymyr NAKISKO 84.52

The entries and results page is now up for the Junior and Senior B Nationals:

http://www.swissiceskating.ch/images/resultate/2017-2018/SM_Junioren_Senioren_2018/index.htm

Competition starts tomorrow, with Noah Bodenstein defending his Junior Men's title and a field of 30 in Junior Ladies that includes Oksana Artyomenko, Nicole Zaika and Marie Kolly-Millasson. Missing from the list, surprisingly, is Polina Ustinkova, who competed for Switzerland in this season's Junior Grand Prix. I haven't heard about her having any injuries or other issues, but I hope she's okay.

Free skates tomorrow!
