I loved Japanese Nationals so much. A REAL competition with PLAUSIBLE scores and impartiality. Congratulations to judges! :cheer2:

Satoko's Miss Saigon never fails to give me shivers. *A*

(as an aside, Satoko's coach/Yamato Tamura looks so good :p)

Checking the TES part of the protocols of Kanako and Rika -- Kanako has 5 UR calls and Rika, 4 UR calls and one unclear edge call. Kanako lost points on her singled flip and had 5 elements with -GOEs, and Rika has just one jump with a -GOE.

Wait, how is that possible? I thought the judges must give -GOE for every underrotated jump. That seems weird to me.

... and boo to the tech specialists :scowl: Actually, I felt that the judges were lenient and the tech specialists were out to get the skaters, and the scores therefore evened out.

Ladies Worlds Team Is Satoko, Rika and Kanako! Yeay!

Edit: 4CC is Satoko-Rika-Yuka :D A bit sad that Kanako doesn't get to defend her 4CC title, but I'm more than happy that she goes to Worlds :')

Edit 2: Junior Worlds is Wakaba-Yuka-Kaori Sakamoto :)

Huh? :O This tweet says otherwise: https://twitter.com/WFS_JP/status/549173595142766593
What happened?

I'm seeing conflicting reports. They didn't show the Worlds/4CC Team announcement on TV so I'm waiting at news websites, but everyone is more abuzz at Tatsuki's sudden retirement announcement.

EDIT: I'm looking at comments from the athletes and Kanako doesn't mention 4CC, so I guess she isn't going to 4CC and Yuka is. Sorry for the confusion! I guess people are also getting confused because this Nats is just as full of running emotions as last year's.

The overall GOE must be negative only for downgraded jumps (<<). The judges are supposed to deduct GOE for underrotations, but if other aspects of the jumps are very good (height, transitions in & out, timing to the music, air position, etc.) the overall GOE can be 0 or positive. (Although I saw some (rare) cases when the judges visibly disagreed with the call (either the edge or rotation) and sort of ignored the call altogether. ^^')

I haven't watchedthe FS vids from today yet, so I can't comment on the UR calls in this particular case. ^^'

so happy with the podium, congratz !
satoko!! finally getting the PCS she deserves, my admiration for her getting bigger day by day, changing her layout cleverly while skating is amazing, her 2A3T is better than her 3-3 anyway, i hope she keeps this layout and congratz on rotating everything(i am guessing she did since she got 130+), so happy!!! also her coach seems more excited than her
wakaba was so sad cause she made some mistakes , it actually affected her program i think but she is so young she will learn how to control her emotions in time

even though rika's posture really bothers me (so much more than satoko's low jumps) she is really consistent and deserved her medal

so sad for haruka, just love watching her skate, such a shame she didnt make it to 4CC and no more competitions this year (i think? ) my only hope is that she will keep skating, does anyone know whts her injury exactly?

kanako making the world team is great, she was holding her tears back at k&c , happy for her!

and riona is really growing on me, love her jumps and spins, esp her lay back is beatiful

edit: now that protocols are up satoko got 3 ur calls and ! for her flip, i wonder how her score would be if she rotated evrything, she can challenge russion girls if she can fix her jumps :yay:
