Is there any rules about twist? Their twist is wrong. Twist or twine-lutz has to be horizontal. Not vertical. The same with Ustimkina/Volodin.
no. it's not wrong. They can do this twist.
A twist may be performed in either vertical or lateral position. Although vertical was traditionally preferred by the judges, lateral ones have become more common since the 1990s. The pair's choice does not affect the score. A lateral twist involves the man slightly tipping the lady to twist almost parallel to the ground. - wiki

Their twist isn't wrong, that's old school  That's how I remember the twist from way back in the day before they started going vertical. I wanna say the Chinese brought that on but can't be 100% positive.
Look at Berezhnaya/Sikharulidze twist on YouTube. Old school

I mean, in nowadays, it looks like cheating. When other pairs do more difficult with horizontal position, they do vertical and it has to be easy in compare. :(

Who's to say it's easier than going horizontal especially if you personally never tried it? If so, why wouldn't other top teams who struggle with a horizontal twist switch to vertical (thinking about Stolbova/Klimov plus a couple of others)? Looks hard to me especially if trying to pull off a quad twist  And its most certainly not cheating. Like I said, that's an old school twist.

That brings up the question of why everyone doesn't do it this way if it's easier. They like complicating their lives for no reason? Or is it scored higher?

I'm so sad for Shcherbakova. Her chances for next year's JGP look slim now. :scowl:

No, they don't. She still has some competitions to prove herself + Free Skate has not happened yet + Test Skates.
Zagitova was not particularly great last season, yet this season she is the leading junior lady in the world. While last season her results were: Russian Cup stages - 7th and 3rd, Junior Nationals - 9th, Russian Cup Final - 4th, Moscow Open - 12th. But... she was great at Test Skates and as a result was given JGP event, which she won.
Gubanova, by the way, was not consistent during the main competitions: Junior Nationals - 12th, Russian Cup Final - 6th

Anna's results this season have been great, she actually won both of her Russian Cup events with scores of 186 and 195. The only reason she has not skated at Nationals was her injury, and her only mistake in this SP was that freak fall on the spin.
I am 99% sure that if she is in good shape after off season, she will certainly be assigned at least one JGP spot, the second one (same for all the girls) will depend on the results of 1st JGP.

Hope they're going to invite her to test skates, because I believe this girl has big potential.
She's gawky, small and childlike for now, but you can recognize some very nice musicality, flexibility and charisma already. I also got a hunch, that when time puts some muscles on this bean, she will be jumping much higher. She's just that kind of kid, that needs more time than others. I wish they can afford giving it to her.

I love Lozko's spins so much, but it makes me emotionally unstable at how many mistakes she does.

She's got everything to be amazing and shouldn't waste it!
