Just thought I should show you the reason why I was running around at the last minute trying to sort out my Predictions.

Well, I made Fan Art for a Russian skater when she made her Senior Grand Prix debut a couple of years ago, and for her second GP as well. And I made Fan Art for a Monégasque skater in between her first 2 Junior Grands Prix.

So, I thought it was only right that I make Fan Art for my local skater making his Junior Grand Prix debut! :agree:

Ted Barton interviews Sam McAllister

17 year old Sam is the son of Margaret O’Neill, who is a bit of a legend in Irish figure skating circles. For many years she was the driving force behind figure skating on the whole of this island.

Incidentally, Margaret was also the early coach of the last skater from Northern Ireland to compete in the Senior Grand Prix Series, Jenna McCorkell (her last Grand Prix was the 2012 Trophée de France).

I only started paying attention to the Junior Grand Prix Series for the first time last season, so I am not sure how long it has been since somebody from Northern Ireland last skated in it. I know Tameron Drake and Edward Alton competed in Pairs at the 2008 John Curry Memorial, but I don’t know if we have had anybody since then.

Getting back to Sam, and last season was his first competing for Ireland after switching from Great Britain. And a very successful season it was too.

In January, Sam won the Junior Men’s competition at the Kempen Trophy in Belgium, his first international win at Junior level (he had previously won the Novice Men’s competition at the 2014 Dragon Trophy in Slovenia). And then in March he became Irish Junior Men’s Champion at his first attempt.

And now he is competing at his first ISU-run competition.

So, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Sam all the best on his Junior Grand Prix debut. We will be cheering you on back home in Norn Iron!

When somebody said about 4 Loop attempts, Alexei KRASNOZHON was brought up there, so I got curious as to who the skater with a Russian name is until I saw some of clips on his performances last season. He is indeed a Russian but represents USA (what a fortune for the country) as his 12th or 13th finish at Russian junior Nationals some years ago seems to make him move to the new environment. It would be interesting if Alexei lands 4 Loop in the FS for the first time in a major int' competition like this. Timothy Goebel made a history during still his junior period when we talk about 4S, so why not another type of quad.
