I really wish Russia would send some of their younger skaters to competitions like this. Say, for example, the Akatieva-Berestovskaya-Samodelkina trio. Maybe not THIS comp because they're currently competing in Moscow, but that general idea. I want international audiences to see their mad skills!
Also, yay, Guzide Irmak Bayir is competing at Dragon Trophy!!
Basically, flight delays and changing planes meant that he arrived in Slovenia on Thursday, but his luggage didn't. And you can't skate with no skates.
Fortunately, his bag did eventually arrive today. But, it was too late to take part in the competition.
That is why I hate connecting flights. Because if the first flight happens to get delayed, it can cause all sorts of chaos.
Oh, congrats to Nurullah Sahaka for a great fight back from the SP to take the gold! And well done Shaline Ruegger for holding on so well. She's had a season of ups and downs, good on her for keeping fighting.
