Seriously? This is something that I've never heard before ... What a womanizer that Nikolai is  It seems that he was dating every second figure skater out there. These ladies should have learned by now (I am not speaking strictly about Shae-Lynn), but I guess that he's like a magnet and they can't say no. That looks like some soap era.

Hahaha, seriously! They were married I believe from 2005-2007, and she wasn't even his first figure skater lady love, she was his third skater wife! His list of ex skater lovers today could fill a book.

Yup, +1 to Gilles and Poirier - my current favourite dancers.

I also had a soft spot for the kookiness and originality of Zhiganshina and Gaszi - especially the 2014 SD and FD that continued the theme from one to the other, even featuring the same constumes. I remember the Eurosport boys wondering aloud if something had happened to their FD costumes when they came out in the same gear before they realised they were just continuing in character. And I loved that they were straight in character the moment they stepped on the ice to the moment they were off it, beyond the start and finish of the programme.

Ooooh, I'm sure I'll remember lots more later on but, off the top of my head, Giada Russo's phenomenal LP this season that doesn't get nearly enough recognition as it should. From the choice of music to the choreography and execution - everything about this is unique, unexpected, magical, captivating, extraordinary... running out of superlatives here

Please watch if you haven't seen it. Even if you don't particularly like it, I'm sure you'll at least appreciate the creativity.

Her Red Violin was truly phenomenal. Her body became a trembling violin with so many secrets. Even without clean executions on her jumps, the performance at Euros can be regarded as one of the electrifying programs last season.

Nathalie Pechalat & Fabian Bourzat's free programs are also very creative and original.

2004/05 FD "Cats" - Look at the opening with a depiction of cats grooming furs. :)

2006/07 FD This avant-guard "four seasons" - The brown overall's suspenders become branches of a tree.

2007/08 FD "The Organ Donor" - Who would imagine of seeing this kind of medical drama concept in figure skating competition?

2008/09 FD "Circus theme" - So lovely and cute as well as touching.

2009/10 FD "Time"

2011/12 FD "Pharaoh & his Mummy" - Look at the audience to cheer the team. :laugh2:

2013/14 FD "The Little Prince and his rose" - I love everything.

Thank you for that - Season 3 was my most favorite of all - this one though is my favorite of the performances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQu-wsl6cNs They are just so happy and beautiful, it just worked. But that was a most awesome YAS season. I watch a couple more years but haven't seen the last couple of years.

Daisuke Takahashi - Bachelorrette

One of the most bizarre yet fascinating programs I've ever seen.

Akiko Suzuki - O
https://youtu.be/mOuaUMgFOcg
She and Pasquale Camerlengo didn't try to recreate Cirque du Soleil, instead created a totally new story on the ice.

Wowowowow! That Daisuke program is amazing! He is one of my favorite skaters--I love the way he moves. Really is an unusual coice of music (sung by Bjork). I wonder who did the choreography. Thanks so much for sharing!

Agree with a lot of the examples here, including the Duchesnay/Duchesnay's "Missing", Takahashi's "Cyberswan," and Russo's "Red Violin" (rewatched this one many times!).

A few more that come to mind:
Drobiazko/Vanagas's "Sunrise at Alcatraz" FD https://youtu.be/ZovVlFQXQIw alwyas loved this couple and felt they were so underrated
Alban Preaubert's "Night on Bald Mountain" SP where he plays an insect https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oRKbb5jnedk

You're welcome. :) The program was choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto, and it was their first collaboration as far as I know.

I don't know if it was you who made me discover this program in the first place after you wrote about it on GS, but if it is, thank you. It's one of the rare non ice dance programs in my playlist. Her step sequences in this are phenomenal, for me much better than a lot of the top tier female skaters. I hope she can improve her jumps.

From what I can tell, it is the first program they worked together on but then they did many EX programs together after that. Miyamoto seems pretty in demand among Japanese skaters. Apparently he's a retired ice dancer. :thank:

I think the Japanese federation needs more to boast of having a really talented choreographer like Miyamoto. I like many of his choreography.

They participated in 5 consecutive Olympics, but got no Oly medal unfortunately. I was impressed by the audience's candid reaction after their FD score was announced at Albertville which was their first Olympic showing. They booing out of anger at the low score was so loud. The audience already recognized their talents that the judges didn't.

Yes, 5 consecutive Olympics is amazing! I realize they represented a smaller country, but still quite impressive. They finished 16th, 12th, 8th, 5th, and 7th.
