Perhaps a little evil, but think about how evil I must feel as I thought Stephane was a little overmarked and I really like him...
Tell me about it.. :sheesh:

Yes, I watched the competition. I think Chipeur should have been several spots higher than 24th.
You CANNOT be serious.
I was there live and there is a reason why Lambiel got the biggest ovation after hometown boy Chan (and maybe Lysacek), even with all the mistakes.
You're probably right but I have never seen him live and was so distracted by his awful costume that I really couldn't enjoy that performance. Plus I also thought Koz and Brezina and Chan were awesome and was mad about their scores after Lambiel's was that much higher giving what he did.
I agree about the costume. But getting past that, and setting aside the jump mistakes, Lambiel was totally on a different planet from Chan and Brzina -- or anyomne else, for that matter (except maybe Takahashi.)
I have no idea if someone mentioned it already - I didn't have the time to read all posts - but Stephane is supposed to be Wilhelm Tell here, our Swiss national hero of late middle ages. So his costume, especially the puff sleeves are inspired by things like that:

I personally wouldn't need the sleeves, but at the same time they don't bother me much. I think the rest of the costume quite good, especially the leather-boot-like shoe covers.
Ah, the costume... But it didn't bother me as much as some ; I suppose I've learned to ignore the costume to a certain degree with Lambiel, because he's just so wonderful..I did feel he didn't have to try to be so..historical.. about it. Everyone knows William Tell. But , looking ahead, if he wears the same costume for his LP that he wore at Europeans..it's positively reserved by comparison , so we're in for a treat.
Oddly ,I don't mind Dai's costumes this year either, though I often have in the past. They're still very flashy, but done with so much panache.I sort-of feel they're so much better design-wise , I barely notice how over the top they are. ( and I'm one whose preferred costume for men is a well-fitted pair of pants and a slightly bloused silk shirt..)
