I haven't even begun to watch all the videos, but I am very optimistic about Courtney Hicks' SP.
Not that it was a world beater, mind you, but she delivered a solid skate. She caught my eye at USNats last year, and I was impressed with her athleticism. I say the following to conjure up all the positive connotations... and NONE of the negatives... she reminded me of Tonya Harding.
This year she looks more artistic, and that is a evidence of a good strong work ethic.
He LP wasn't that successful, but one step at a time, I suppose.
Anyhow, based solely on what I hope is a step in a good direction, that was my favorite thing I've seen from CoC so far.
Honestly, due to Boyang's presence, I really didn't care about the rest of the competitions.
Ice dance and pairs were okay, but the ladies' event was really boring because of the subpar performances in general.
1. Mao Asada SP-I absolutely love how she is able to interpret the music change during her step sequence. The music is slower first and in the end very fast but she has no problem with it.
2. Rika Hongo FP-Amazing improvement in musicality and interpretation. Last year she was also very good but this was perfect. This was a pure joy by Rika. I saw in her face she really enjoys her program.
3.Kawaguti/Smirnov FP
Other nice moments: C/L both SP and FS, Han Yan winning bronze, Mao's 3A from the FS, Boyang's 4Lz3T, K/S's throw quads, Martinez being so happy after his FS
1. Elena's Titanic.
I hate this song and movie with a vengeance but she made me watched her whole FS without cringing. She could be my new Kiira! :luv17:
2. Boyang SP.
Of course his 4Lutz3T is out of this world but more is how much his presentation improved on this programme. No shaking head from me this time. Kudos to him! :cool2:
3. Courtney's spread eagle.
Mao's return to competition is the highest of all. :hap93: Still emotional after rewatch them for 100s+ times.
1) Kavaguti/Smirnov LP It was ART!!
2) Mao Asada LP Even with the jump mistakes, it was totally exquisite.
3) Han Yan LP His skating was beautiful, full of emotion.
