Yuna Aoki

Aoki Yuna, (青木祐奈), or Yuna Aoki, is a Japanese figure skater.

She was born January 10th, 2002 in Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan.

She is the 2015 Asian Open Trophy champion, the 2016 and 2019 Bavarian Open silver medalist, and the 2023 Triglav Trophy & Narcisa Cup silver medalist. She also has many medals in the Japan Novice Championships.

She made her international debut as a senior at the 2015 Asian Open which she won. She made her senior debut the same season at the 2015 Japanese National Championships where she placed 16th. She made her Grand Prix debut in 2023 at the NHK Trophy where she placed 5th.

Yuna Aoki did not compete in the 2019-20 season, and did not complete internationally from the years 2019 to 2023, she returned to international competition at the 2023 Triglax Trophy where she placed 2nd.

She is coached by Kensuke Nakaniwa and Makoto Nakata.

Congrats to Yuna's 9th placement at Nationals (and 8th for FS, with a score over 130!). And she gets to sub to 4CC.

By placing within top 10 at Nationals, this means she should be able to receive funding for next season. Hopefully, this will change her mind about retiring by the end of this season.

After the new year, Yuna will be in Daisuke Takahashi's ice show 'Kassouya', and I believe she'll participate in some other domestic competitions as well (Inter-collegiate, or National Sports competition). So we'll see her some more.

Congratulations on her placement in 9th at Nats, her two new personal records (for FS and Total), and her position as a sub-in for 4CC.

Yuna just won her first competition of 2024 - the Intercollegiate Skating Championship 2024. She took the 1st place in SP (with the 3Lz-3Lo combination). There were mistakes in the FS, and she got only 2nd in FS (Yuna was behind Rinka). But she won overall. Congratulation to Yuna!!!

Next domestic competition: Japan National Sports Festival Winter Games 2024.

Yuna is currently completing at the National Winter Sports Festival. Today was the senior women's short program in which she recieved 58.41. She is in 7th place and has qualified for the free skate tomorrow. Best of luck to her

With a free skate score of 108.96 and a final combined score of 167.37, Yuna finished the National Winter Sports Festival in 8th place!!Congratulations on a good competition, Yuna!

As of right now, her next competition is the Challenge Cup, February 22nd - 25th in the Netherlands.

Also, I saw it from other Japanese interview, I think Yuna will have another domestic competition in Japan after Challenge Cup, it will be the Lily Cup Kanagawa by the Kanagawa FS federation (第４７回リリーカップカナガワ, Competitions scheduled on Apr 6/ Apr 13-14). I'll post the information when the details of the competition is released later.

Yuna scored 72.01 yesterday during the women's short at the 2024 Challenge Cup!! She is currently in first place <3

With a score of 209.37 (!!!), Yuna took second place in the 2024 Challenge Cup!! Not only is this her first time breaking the 200 point line, but she also set a new personal best with her free skate score, 137.36.
This was an amazing competition for Yuna, all three of her personal bests have been shattered and she took the silver medal for some incredible performances!

She will continue skating next season!!!

So, her very last competition will be the Lily Cup on Apr 14th. She'll skate 16th in the Sr. women's (note this is for FS only).

After that, she'll be in the ice show Fantasy on Ice tour.

BTW, according to the news above, after graduation, she'll move her belonging back to MF Academy, where she trains currently.
