where are y'all watching the medal ceremony? Eurosport cut away. Darn, another thing besides the intro I'll never get to see.

Try to get BBC Iplayer, they archive all the broadcasts. So you can rewatch full competition later, no commercials and good commentary (from Robin at least)

Two things from the protocols: (1) I love me some Shoma but I think his GOE should be lower on some of those jumps and (2) Nathan's base value is ridiculous!!!

I used to love the old Soviet anthem for some reason. No idea why but it just made me want to.. collectivize maybe?

I hate both American and Russian anthems, too patriotic and nationalistic for my taste.

And I'm Czech. So we have a natural distaste for it.

Grrr....the Russian feed got a bit choppy, so I missed a bunch of stuff pretty much from Jason on. At least I've got NBCSN this afternoon, and I can watch it on the TV without worrying about the results.

Yay 3 spots for US! I don't even care about the pairs thing anymore. US skaters got what I really wanted for them, 3 spots for men's and ladies'. (Yes, I know I should include ID, but I'm not counting on anything even though 3 spots there is probably safe.)

Very happy for the 3 medalists.

Yuzu came from behind and was flawless. This is one of my least favourite programs of his though so I hope he doesn't keep it for next year ;) However, he was very in a league of his own today.. Bravo.

Shoma : well, I am so happy that there are no tears this year. He is an engaging athlete with a definite flair and charm. I am a fan. :luv17:

Boyang : A well deserved bronze ! Good for you ! I am impressed at how well he delivered at worlds again this year considering his not so good season. PCS slightly too high but he is fun to watch so why not give him credit for the entertainment. Very good skate today!

Javi : CBC stream died when he started making mistakes so i have not seen the whole thing... but from reading the comments here... wow... a real melt down.... he had a great lead in the short.. but I think it's fair he was placed only 6th in the long... what is not fair : almost the same PCS as Patrick....

Patrick lost most of his points on that stupid 3A combo... well 1) it was marked as a sequence... so already he loses quite a lot of points... it seems like the 1/2 loop never was there... and he did a 2S which was not counted as well.... BUT REALLY, besides that, the second quad toe wasn't great but he held on his feet... how is this worth only 94 pcspoints????

WHY? 94??? We have seen Patrick score way more with much less performance... seriously... I understand there were two top contenders left... but he was already behind boyang even with a 96... for me the ranking is fine... there's no problem with that... Patrick didn't get his axel fully counted due to the botched combo... he will figure that one out... new jumping pass for him... the issue i have with his low PCS score is that it clearly shows that a guy who attempts 6 quads, including 2 with falls, only 2 with positive GOE can still get a better free program score.... Patrick should be way ahead with his PCS and the ISU should recognize his value versus the value of botched quads.

Nathan : you are full of promise. I am looking forward to years of watching you, boyang and shoma compete. Lots of pressure tonight.... but the American fans will be thrilled with your contribution and Jason's to bring back 3 spots...

for those wondering about Canada's 3 spots... it's sad... but it's no big deal. You won't hear me cry over this all year... the reality is that if both guys didn't get to 13, then why bring a 3rd one... I stand by what I believe here.

Kevin : very good performance... low balled on PCS... one less carrot and it may have made a big difference. You will have to fight for your spot next year but you are definitely on the right track....9th place is very commendable.

That's it for me.... I won't take part in the wuzrobbed discussions because if anyone was lowballled :it was the Canadians ;) so have your fun :)

You're including the American anthem?? We can be uber patriotic but our anthem if anything is a schmaltzy battle ode, with the writer exclaiming his joy at the flag surviving the battle.

Yes. I get that. 1968.
Just when I heard it it always sounded so dramatic.
The U.S. national anthem is a work of art and I say that as a Canadian. It's pretty much perfect. It swells and rises and conveys exactly what it's supposed to. Americans are proud of their national anthem like few other countries on earth and in my opinion it is well deserved. Even I am moved by it in ways O Canada could never move me as a song.

Congrats to Yuzuru, Shomo, and Boyang!! Well deserved medals although my sentimental heart was hoping Javi and Patrick could each pull off one more Worlds medal each for the 'old' guys! My heart was breaking all over the place! I LOVE each and every guy in the final flight as well as Jason in the penultimate group! ALL the skaters did their respective countries proud! Good fight!

My baby boy Nathan, you are only 17 and good things are to come! :luv17: :clapper: He fought hard out there! I wonder if his boots were an issue? He posted a pic of his skates tied up with hockey laces to make them tighter per his coach's recommendation. But no excuses! He was a little bit off his game but hung in there for 6th and 3 spots at next year's Games for the U.S.!

Top 6 for his rookie Worlds debut and securing 3 spots at next year's Olympics for the U.S. along with Jason is all kinds of awesomeness!! And Jason! Top 7 against an arsenal of quads!! It speaks to his tremendous skating skills and superb artistry that he scored so well and in spite of a fall!

I just want to give all the skaters a big bear hug! <3

Sexy Javi couldn't hang on to his World title but he's got an 'it' factor that no one else has and hopefully he'll come back even stronger for the Olympic season!

Yuzuru was just sublime! Well deserved score and gold medal! Shoma was wonderful too although his jumps were not all as crisp as Yuzuru's, and SpidyBoyang is improving more and more with his artistry to go along with his huge jumps!

Aww dang, that stream doesn't work for me...I guess I'll have to wait until it goes up on YouTube (hopefully.

Well, that was a lot of fun! Disappointing for Javi, I hope he's not too upset! But Yuzu's skate was out of this world and he well deserved the title. Shoma was incredible and Boyang was brilliant.

It was good to watch with like-minded persons! Hope you all had fun too.

Congratulations to Hanyu on such an epic comeback FS to win it all! That FS has been so tough all season so to pull out all the stops and deliver that perfect skate is a huge accomplishment!!! Very well deserved win and such an amazing champion!

Congrats to Shoma too! Save for the lutz and 4T he was foot perfect and it's going to be a great rivalry at japan nats and the Olympics. Japan must be thrilled to have the top 2. And he obliterated his personal best.

Yay SpiderJin for lighting it up too and nabbing another bronze!!!

Congrats to Patrick for a pretty solid skate for him - nailing that 4S and setting himself up well for the Olympics. He's pushing the 300 mark again and his perfect SP should be something he is proud of. Also sooo close to 3 spots with Reynolds!!!

Wasn't Javi or Chen's days but at least Javi had a stellar SP and Chen/Brown skated well enough to save 3 US spots. Usfsa must be relieved.

Man, what a competition. Quad fest but still some great skating. The men truly outdid themselves.
