Like in Pairs, Ice Dance has so many teams I'm looking forward to see! Despite supporting SinKats and both fellow Russian Teams, I am so happy that Piper and Paul eventually get their chance that they would have deserved so much already last year. It will be a nailbiter and I've taken next Friday off work. I wish these two wonderful people the best skate ever!
Of course, also looking forward to C/B and H/D. Counting the hours :yahoo:

I'm so excited for ice dance! I adore the top 2 Russian and American teams as well as Piper and Paul so I'm incredibly excited to see how it all plays out. Although I am really hoping for Sinkats to skate clean and take that title, I really think they deserve it.

Of the Russian teams I am more a fan of Stepanova/Bukin than Sinitsina/Katsalapov, but of course I want both of them to skate well. I also like the third team Gahorski/Gerreiro, and hope they have a good WC. With regard to the Americans I am slightly in favour of Chock/Bates to Hubbel/Donahue but - again - I want both of them to skate well. And I'm not forgetting Hawayek/Baker either - their Heart of Glass FD is really something. Like many, I am also hoping Gilles/Poirier make a big splash, and the Danadians aren't bad at all either (although, they've had better programmes - but that's just me). And what about the Italians? I love them too. I wish everyone well, but there has to be a winner in the end. Nail biting for sure - and I'm not even rooting for one particular couple as my favourites aren't going to be there (I assume it is known I'm quite a bit of a Papadakis/Cizeron fan). But it makes no difference...my nails are going to be bit to shreds! And...there's a Dutch couple too. Not that I expect them to score very high, but it's just so exciting to have one there. Oops, no more nails left. Really looking forward to next week!

I'm pulling hard for Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue:love: to win the World title. They look strong and beautiful and they make such a statement with their speed, technique, and connection. You know they're there, and a force. Also, I'd love to see Kaitlyn Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker make a leap ... I think they can, with their gorgeous FD that they created/choreographed some/much of.

Others I look forward to are Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, Natalia KALISZEK and Maksym SPODYRIEV, Sinitsina/Katsalapov, Stepanova/Bukin, and Gilles/Poirier, especially their Jonie Mitchell FD. I don't know much about dance scoring and I intend to stay in a state of ignorance ... this is one time I just enjoy the programs and the emotion. I often am surprised by a new or unknown-to-me team that will then become a favorite.

Me too! In fact, if we could just repeat the GPF 2018 podium (Madi/Zach, SinKats, Charlene/Marco) I'd be very, very happy! :love2:

My best guess would be that SinKats will win, and Stepanova/Bukin will be at least fourth, with one American team also on the podium. But nothing would make me happier than Guignard/Fabbri sneaking in for a medal here.

And you KNOW that Barbara Fusar-Poli has been busy honing their already-excellent Finnstep pattern to perfection, so it’s not inconceivable that this could happen!

Oh definitely!
And probably making Marco do double the amount of twizzle practice, after his jittery moment in them at the Gran Premio Final!
Also, it will be 20 years since Barbara won Worlds, so a medal for Charlene and Marco would be a great anniversary present for her.

Of all the performances I'm looking forward to in all disciplines, this one is probably top of the list.

This program is a masterpiece - if for no other reason than the opening one-foot sequence.

I can’t wait for Kaitlyn and Jean Luc to debut their MASTERPIECE in front of International judges!

Myself also, I would love to see them on the podium here. I think that this FD routine is so complete, carrying the music rather than the other way around, which is a reflection on their ability as athletes and artists. This dance has such a great flow including lots small and interesting interpretative movements which takes it above “routine”

YES! Also, very excited to see this bring them into the top 5 discussion.

Me too! And although Kaitlin and Jean-Luc are my favorite American team, I also want the other two American teams to skate well because it's in the USA's best interest going into the Olympic season.. But Hawayek/Baker have the best FD of their career and I hope the judges recognize that.

Can anyone explain how the Olympic qualification for ice dancing works for this cycle ? Specifically, what ranking must a couple achieve in these Worlds to secure a spot for their country immediately ?

Thank you !
