Dost my eyes deceive me? Apart from the livestreams, Eurosport 1 and 2 are actually showing (most?) of the figure skating? LIVE?! Whut? What alternate universe have we entered?
I'm more of a livestream (no commentary) gal myself, but still. Good for the sport, anyway!

Sorry, had to pause the Opening Ceremony for a few minutes after the speeches, as I didn't want to miss any of the programme that followed them.

And it is is a good job I did. It was an absolutely beautiful programme.

I would love to know who the 4 skaters are. (Or was it 5? Not sure if the skater in the pre-recorded video was also in the arena).

Is no one watching the folk-techno opening ceremony? You're missing out!

EDIT: ah, CaroLiza, thanks for being there too
EDIT 2: the music's fun, but they're only showing the audience now

Mmmm. Interesting routine to take us into the National Anthem. A group of traditional dancers on a mat in the middle of the rink, with skaters on the ice around the mat.

And more dancers in traditional dress on the staircases.

Oh, Laternik talking after the National Anthem. Says Tallinn is now the centre of the figure skating world.

Just reached the music you're talking about. To me, it sounds very like the Irish version of bagpipes, the Uilleann pipes.

Not sure about the singing, though. It's like a chant that witches would do to cast a spell.

It's nice to see the audience. But, come on, let us see if there is anything happening on the ice!

Poor unemployed sweepers. Won’t someone think of the sweepers?
