I hope the ISU finds someone else to host this competition next year.

Yes. So do I.

The last time we had these problems with the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, somebody suggested that the 🎅 Santa Claus Cup in Budapest should become the final round of the Challenger Series. And I fully back that idea! It is an excelently run event, and it has the advantage of not clashing with the Grand Prix Final. (It is normally held the week before the GP Final).

But, this is the ISU. When do they ever do something that would be good for the sport?

I think you have an excellent idea. I watched most of Santa Claus Cup and it went very smoothly with a good stream and scoring. Every year Golden Spin seems to have issues and this year is the worst. It would also be great to move it away from the GP Final. I love skating and trying to follow 2 big competitions (plus the JGP which I was going to watch later on demand) means I am always missing something in each of the competitions.

To be honest, I rather like it that the GPF and Golden Spin are organised simultaneously. It's like having the A game and the B-final at the same time. Now, regarding the problems (and now I can watch the live scoring and I see that Chelsea and Sherim redeemed themselves, while Hanna and Alessio put forward another 10 point difference but didn't manage to extend even further - 20 in total - and they are again close in the standings!) I agree that the Santa Claus Cup might be a better choice for the last Challenger. Although I like it that it exists in a weekend when there is neither GP nor Challenger!

Thank goodness the livescoring is working again. Because with the way the scores from the Short are, this could go either way for my kids. :drama:

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

110.96 in the FS, and 184.10 overall.

They lead the FS by 2.16 points, and overall by just a whisker under 10 points. Both over the Americans.

Now to see how Allison and Saulius get on.

EDIT: Oops, forgot my kids were 3rd in the SP, not 2nd. Christina and Anthony to go now.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

Emilea and Vadym win a 🥉 Bronze Medal in their first international competition together!!!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

What an achievement, against much more experienced partnerships.

Just a pity they have that particular flag next to their names rather than the flag of one of their own countries. Because with the way things are in American skating, it is going to be an uphill struggle for them to get considered for selection for the Majors. And with results like this, they would be pretty much guaranteed a slot with Cyprus or the Ukraine.

But, at least they have put themselves firmly on the radar by winning medals (2 domestic 🥇 🥇 Gold Medals, and 1 international 🥉 Bronze Medal) in all three of their competitions together so far.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMILEA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

I get what you mean in terms of opportunities, but the US is one of their own countries. Emilea was born there, has lived there her whole life from what I can tell, and is a citizen. She also previously competed for the US.

Certainly a great result for them.

Actually, I'm nearly sure they both have American citizenship, as I think Vadym got it when he was skating with Avonley. And that is the only reason I can think of for them going for America, to save one of them having to apply for citizenship of the other's country.

But, I agree with your point about Emilea. I was clumsy in my wording. Probably due to being so happy with their result!
