2023 Pavel Roman Memorial | Nov 10-12

The 2023 Pavel Roman Memorial will be held Nov 10-12, 2023, in Olomouc, Czech Republic. It will feature the Ice Dance discipline in the Novice, Junior and Senior categories, and will be conducted in accordance with the 2022 ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the Technical Rules for Ice Dance 2023/24 (ISU Communication 2560) and relevant ISU Communications.

Watching the juniors now and there's some very good skating skills on show.

Still find it weird that teams are having songs slowed down to the correct bpm instead of finding music that's actually the correct tempo. It sounds really strange

Four Nationals is going to have a really good junior ice dance competition this year

Hancock and Fourati have really improved. Bernard and Bonetto had a pretty decent senior debut here.

Watching advanced novice teams is always very interesting, there's something fascinating about seeing who might come up to juniors within the next few years.

Some teams were very impressive, even with unfortunate falls for some of them. To be honest, I think the top 3 would not look out of place in Juniors, and I'm looking forward to them hopefully making their JGP debuts soon. I also quite enjoyed the Free Dance from baby Mrazek and his partner, and the lower-ranked Slovak team (Stefanovova/Boeris), who unfortunately had a fall/slip in both choreographic elements.

I’ve always thought Hancock/Fourati were amazing! I’m glad people are starting to see that too!

Emma KIVIOJA / Erik PELLNOR were actually very enjoyable - Crazy how Sweden went from no Ice Dancers to one team with Worlds minimums, and another with Euros minimums

Bit messy for Layla KARNES / Liam CARR (GBR), he fell out of the one-foot turns and only got a base level. Still, Euros minimums done, and even if they had achieved World minimums here, the end result is the same - Euros for them, and I'm guessing maybe Golden Spin in December together with Bekker/Hernandez.

Tali/Lafornara comfortably won the Italian Junior duel with Paolino/Tuba this time

Hancock and Fourati look like a completely different team compared to this time last year. And WOW that choreographic slide where he flings her across the ice is so cool!

I wasn't sure about Karnes and Carr earlier in the season, but they've made some changes to their programs and look like a team that should be good enough to medal here (if not for those mistakes!).

In juniors, Pidgaina and Koval were as good as expected (such a shame only one Ukrainian team can go to junior worlds, as it probably won't be them and they'd likely do really well). Tali and Lafornara were a revelation- could they possibly be contending for a junior world medal at the end of the season?
