The Senior competitions start on 15[SUP]th[/SUP] December 2017 at 15:10 CET (14:10 GMT) with the Men’s Short.

So, the target time to get your predictions in is 1 hour before that, i.e. 14:10 CET (13:10 GMT).

I was caught on the hop by discovering that, although the competitions in Italy start on Wednesday, the Senior competitions don't start until Friday evening. Whereas here the Senior competitions start on Friday afternoon.

So, I had to get this up quickly, so that we didn't have the strange situation where the Round 2 thread was up, but the Round 1 thread wasn't!

A hint, though - Hanzlíková is VERY good. Definitely the most promising of the Czech girls. Which is why a lot of us were baffled as to why Ukolova was sent to the Nebelhorn...

For the Czech Republic, it is between Brezinova and Hanzlikova. Both are able to skate perfectly, both are able to fail. Ukolova is out - and a lot of us were upset why she was sent to the Nebelhorn, but she met the creteria.

I miss Nicole RAJICOVA for Slovakia.

The Ladies competition could be interesting here.

Before I came to it, I knew who I was going to put as my Top 2. But, I wasn’t sure who I would have completing the podium positions. I lost faith in Brezinova a few years ago, but despite this she could still be a contender for the podium. Other names going round my head were Medgyesi, Kaminski, Hugec, and Ko. (Note that I don’t consider Ukolova to be a contender).

So, I was surprised to find that, when I looked up the absolute PB’s, the adopted Korean is actually ahead of Brezinova! In fact, she has the third highest of the entire field! But, there is barely a point covering her, Hugec and Brexinova. And then only a couple of points back to Medgyesi. So, I went purely by how I felt.

Ukolova was next along in terms of absolute PB, but there were 3 skaters I wanted to put ahead of her. And these skaters were all part of a group of 4 that had absolute PB’s that were very similar to each other (but a good bit behind Ukolova’s). So, I put those 3 ahead of Ukolova in an order that I preferred. And then put Ukolova in 10th, splitting Gabryszak from the others.

I then moved onto the Men, where there were not as many familiar names. I am sorry to any Hungarians reading this, but I didn’t know any of your guys. And it was only slightly better for the Poles, where I was only familiar with Gala and your adopted Ukrainian.

Speaking of Reznichenko, I was shocked to find that he has the highest absolute PB of the field! I was honestly expecting the Belohradsky brothers to be at the top, and then Gala or Kotlarik to be the best of the rest with Rezhichenko rounding out the Top 5.

However, that score was from the Warsaw Cup. And Reznichenko always scores a lot higher there than anywhere else. So, I decided to go with my original plan – an all Czech podium, followed by the 2 top skaters from Poland.

The other guys I was familiar with were all outside the Top 10 in the absolute PB list. So, I just took the easy way out and kept the absolute PB order for the rest of the Top 10.

As with the German Championships, I just went with my gut for Ice Dance, as I wanted to move onto the Italians.

I am so sorry alyssamarie, but at the time you posted your predictions, the Shorts for the Singles categories were already finished.

So, only the Ice Dance predictions will be accepted.

Although I wasn't watching LIVE, the 6 minute warm-up for the Senior Dancers was due to be on at the time you posted your predictions. So, given that nobody would have actually started their routines, it would be very cruel to disqualify you from that category too. And I am not cruel!

It is unfortunate, but at least you won't be missing out completely.

I'll ask the scorers to let you know how you would have got on in the other categories anyway. Just out of curiosity.
