Junior Ladies Short Program

While there were 6 falls among the first 7 skaters, there were no falls among the last 7 skaters, so don't tune out early. Besides, at least two of the junior ladies skated world class calibre programs.

There were a lot of similiarities among the junior programs because the required elements are stricter than the senior programs. The flying spin has to be a sit spin and the solo jump has to be a loop jump. One consequence of the required solo loop jump is that if a skater falls on the 1st jump of a planned two-jump combination, there is no way to make up for the 2nd jump. For those planning on doing a triple+3T, falling on the 1st jump is especially costly.

group 1

Carolyn-Ann Alba, 3rd in the novice division last year
3S fall, 2Lo, flying sit spin, step sequence, change of foot combination spin, spiral sequence, 2A, layback spin
21.05 + 20.11 - 1.00 = 40.16

Victoria Fairchild
3T+2T good, 3Lo fall, flying sit spin, (flexy ina bauer,) 2A fall, layback spin, spiral sequence, change of foot combination spin
21.56 + 19.91 - 2.00 = 39.47
A poor start to the junior ladies competition, with 3 falls already.

Amanda Dobbs
2A good, 3S+2T good, flying sit spin slow, spiral sequence, change of foot combination spin, 2Lo, step sequence, layback spin
27.10 + 20.26 = 47.36

Kirsten Olson, has some local crowd support
2A, 3T+3T, flying sit spin, 3Lo fall, step sequence, spiral sequence, change of foot combination spin, layback spin slow, finished well after the music
26.84 + 20.72 - 1.00 = 46.56

---
group 2

Masha Leonov
3S+2T, 2Lo with arms overhead, flying sit spin, spiral sequence, 2A, layback spin, step sequence, change of foot combination spin
22.50 + 17.20 = 39.70

Rebecca Stern
3T fall, layback spin, 2A, spiral sequence, 3Lo turnout, flying sit spin, step sequence, change of foot combination spin
22.63 + 18.54 - 1.00 = 40.17

Kawamura Ellie
3S fall, 3Lo, layback spin, 2A good, step sequence, flying sit spin, spiral sequence, change of foot combination spin
25.08 + 21.45 - 1.00 = 45.53
Ellie may have been planning to do a 3S+3T, so her fall on the 3S may have cost her 9 points.

Jane Ruan
3F+2T some loss of continuity, 3Lo, 2A, flying sit spin, spiral sequence, layback spin, step sequence, change of foot combination spin
25.80 + 19.17 = 44.97

Brittney Rizo
3Lo, 3T+3T, flying sit spin, 2A, layback spin, spiral sequence, change of foot combination spin
32.36 + 22.23 = 54.59
Joannie Rochette would be better off if she had Brittney Rizo's upper body. :p

group 3

Alexe Gilles
3Lz+2T, 3Lo, spiral sequence, layback spin, 2A, flying sit spin, step sequence, change of foot combination spin
31.02 + 21.61 = 52.63
She was a veritiable giant compared to Angela Maxwell in the warm-up area.

Victoria Rackohn
3Lz+2T loss of continuity, 2Lo, change of foot combination spin, flying sit spin, (split jump,) spiral sequence, (backward charlotte,) 2A shaky, layback spin
27.81 + 21.69 = 49.50

Alexa Scimeca
spiral sequence, 3Lo hand down, 3F+2T, step sequence, flying sit spin, 2A, change of foot combination spin, layback spin
24.93 + 18.81 = 43.74

Angela Maxwell, 1st in the novice division last year
2A good, 3T+3T good, flying sit spin, spiral sequence, 3Lo, change of foot combination spin, step sequence, layback spin
33.08 + 21.83 = 54.91

Kristine Musademba, 2nd in the novice division last year
3Lo, 3F+2T underrotated/turnout 2T, flying sit spin, spiral sequence, layback spin, step sequence, 2A good, change of foot combination spin
27.96 + 21.14 = 49.10

The junior ladies who are 1-2 after the SP are the same two who managed scores above 150 in qualifying.

Angela Maxwell also completed a good 3T+3T in her warm-up. Her coach said that she will add a 3F to her free skate and after seeing how effortlessly she completed her 3T+3T combos, I'm optimistic about her putting some pressure on the junior prodigies competing in the senior division. :agree:
