Sorry for my long absence, but I'm still unable to find enough time so far... I wanted to at least finish Doshisha/Kandai's translation before going hiatus (of translating stuff) though! (It's actually baseball season for me and my work has gotten to me earlier than I had expected!)
Just short replies back while I can...

So we learned from these interviews Kazuki's a copycat, gossip and now we know he's a dirty slob, too :laugh2:
Poor Kazuki, I'm sure he's not that bad!
I REALLY liked the bit he talks about Taijin-sensei.
:peace: I agree, I'm pretty sure he's not too bad, they just love teasing him :p And I too really liked his talk about Taijin sensei!
(In the recent QA interview, Shu-kun said he shared a room with Tomono-kun during Universiade and it was Shu who made a mess! And speaking of Shu-kun, he's also skating to MR for his free, choreo by Jeffrey Buttle, for his 2nd time.)

And his 2 GP assignments!
Otter prayers worked!!!
(And it's the skating god's will to make sure Rusfed learns his name!)

Came across this hilarious picture of Kazuki with Sota Yamamoto and Taichiro Yamakuma: https://twitter.com/main120312031/status/1142389259027931136
Does anyone know when it was taken! They look super young here (Kazuki especially, but what's new)
Not sure when, but they all once belonged to Rinkai-sports (Rinspo), so that photo may be from back then. (like, before 2013?)

Seems it was an event from Tokai on Air, a famous Japanese YouTube channel. From what I could see, they're from the Kansai area and they do a lot of funny 'challenge' videos. I wonder if Kazuki was there!
They're from Tokai area (they're from Okazaki, a small local city near Toyota city where NTC is) but I'm not really sure what they're doing lol

Kazuki retweeted a music video that was shot at Doshisha university! https://twitter.com/naniwatomono/status/1143093093043851264
'I'm there every day', he said. It's a nice campus!
YES!!! I love Okazaki Taiiku!!! (KiraraChin, does this sound familiar to you?)

Kazuki performed his Moulin Rouge FS! :hap85:
First reports say he wore his 2016-17 SP costume in the opening number.
Still waiting on fan reports of his FS performance but judging from this pic he may have performed his FS in the same costume.
https://twitter.com/SportsHochi/status/1144571668481732608
Although the costume is old (can't wait for the new one he will get for it) but that HAIR!!!! I guess I now understand why he kept growing his hair and doing crazy things with it in the past months, lol  and I wonder if he will actually keep this look for the whole season and how he will change it with the SP?? But anyway, I hope this hair did help him create the image and atmosphere he wants for this program.

And this is a closer look on the hair (heart glasses is a bonus ;) ) from timkoleto IGS

https://twitter.com/utsusemi_06/status/1144599278414774277

Also some translations about the performance and what he said in his recorded message before it

Great! Thanks a lot for all the links!
Now I'm drawning in flooding info now, but don't miss Misato's IG story either!
(Hearing it's from Tim's IG story, I had to check her IG too and sure I was rewarded lol)
Oh and of course Tomono-kun's IG story made me go
I'll also try and see what I can find later, but I need to go to sleep for now!

I uploaded Kazuki's DOI performance from the 06.30 live broadcast to twitter in three parts.
Unfortunately my stream froze before his segment was completely over.
I managed to capture his entire recorded self intro and performance but am missing the commentary during his slomo replay.
This is a show version of his Moulin Rouge FS.

Thanks a lot, Tsuyoboogie for the updates :luv17:

Wifi is failing me these days but I finally got to see Kazuki's DOI performance ^^

I do like that first look into Kazuki's FP , and here are some comments:

- Nice to see some new transitions and movements we are not used to seeing from him.
- I was a bit surprised by how the music was cut in the middle of the Tango, not sure if I like this since I am feeling it is too sudden and not blending very well!!
- Loved how he got into the final climax with that spin and his speed in the chsq but I guess he needs more control on his facial expressions there
- I can't imagine when he will do the rest of his jumping paths and compos!! I am afraid it will take away many of those transitions I liked??

Hi everyone! I'm back properly now

AQFS, bear in mind this is a show version, not the full programme. So that's most likely the reason why the music cut feels sudden.

Can I just say, I really, really like the programme. I like the choreo and I'm so impressed by Kazuki's interpretation - he was on fire!
Also, he's very obviously bringing in the 4T! Wow! I'm so curious as to what the layout will be - will it be a 3 quad programme? And if so, which of his jumps later on gets the axe? :drama:
Layout apart, I think the main issue is that this choreo demands A LOT in terms in SS and control, it will definitely be a challenge for Kazuki. But I suspect this is exactly what Misha meant what they said they chose the programme considering all aspects of his development! I can't wait to see Kazuki grow into this programme over the season!

Finally, it was announced that Kazuki will be at PIW Tokyo on 21 and 22/07!

On one hand, I'm super happy we will get more cute PIW content... However, I'm a bit worried because it's likely that the Japanese skaters training camp will be soon after... I hope he gets to rest

Looking forward to seeing Kazuki's performance! (I haven't yet, I hope it stays around)
Good to hear of another show assignment, Japan really loves him! :)
I took a look at his new bio. I really hope an updated version of sponsorships is published later on like tsuyo said, because I'm so not happy with this one. So, he likes browsing through products in stores (or is ウィンドウショッピング used for clothes only?), baseball, movies and youtube. ^ ^ And I am guessing he says he'll work towards his aim with all his might, and keep putting out maximum effort day by day? (guesswork, but proud not to have to look up 'mokuhyou' and 'mukau' anymore after numerous encounters in interviews, lol)
Looks like some challenger placements are omitted in this list, humph.

unrelated but wanted to ask the local Japanese before I forget - so many sentences end like this (example from Kazuki's bio): 努力していきたいと思います. I don't feel comfortable translating it word for word every time as "I think". What other expressions would it correspond to in English? Sometimes I get a feeling it is very close to the tentative conditional - 'I'd like to'...

Welcome back dear ^^

And oh, so this is not the final music cut?? I thought this is the whole program since the time is almost 4+ mins??

About PIW, should we expect he will debut his SP there?? :)

Yes, Kazuki loves fashion and browsing for clothes, both online and in store. However, because of his small size, he rarely finds stuff that fits, poor thing...

Thanks, AQFS! I'm really glad you're back too! :luv17: Hope you're fully recovered!

Now that you mention, the programme he presented at DOI does last 4min, doesn't it? So maybe it's the final music cut, just without all the jumps and other technical elements  How is he gonna cram everything into that, God knows... :drama:

OHHHH I hadn't thought about the SP debut! I hope he does it, and there is a broadcast, because I'm dying to see his SP!

Atom (Doshisha Univ sports) x Kanspo (Kansai Univ Sports) Collaboration Project

Figure Skating Men* Special Crosstalk Second Series

Kinki Danshi's Daily Life ~ On-Season Part 2
Shu Nakamura x Taichi Honda x Kazuki Tomono
KanSpo: http://kanspo.univ.nikkansports.com/?p=40788
Doshisha Atom: http://doshisha-atom.net/web/result.php?no=2468

Continued from the first half, #965, here

【Doshisha Atom only part】
—We've got a question regarding skating orders (in competition). Does it make any differences?
All: Ah...
Tomono(T): It depends (on time and circumstances), I think.
Nakamura(N): I got used to it (any order) now!
Honda(H): It's the same for me no matter when, maybe... If you ask me what I prefer, then maybe I'd want 2nd or 3rd in a group.
T: I like 2nd or 3rd the best, too.
H: I want 1st.
{Note: Taichi did say 2nd or 3rd at first and then for some reason he said 1st...? Not sure if he changed his mind while talking or what. Need more context.}
—You do?
H: Since we have a good environment with our ice rink, we do music run-through as we go along with the flow in lessons. Often doing it when we're already out of breath.
N: We often end up doing a run-through as a flow of practice (without rest).
H: So, maybe 2nd after a little bit of rest. If I get to choose, I'd rather have it sooner (than later)...
T: I'd like it sooner too, if I get to choose.
H: There aren't probably many who want it later.
N: I'm used to it, no matter when.
T: 2nd or 3rd is the most balanced out of all. 1st isn't bad either I guess, but it's hard for me personally to get prepared. So, to take a breather, 2nd or 3rd.

—Do you take your skates off or keep them on, depending on your skating order?
T: I'd probably take them off when I'm skating 3rd or later.
H: How about 3rd in SP?
T: I wouldn't (take them off then), either.
H: I was 3rd in SP today (at In-Colle). I'd take them off if (I'm skating) 3rd in Free.
T: I'd take them off when skating in the second half of the group (4th or later).
H: 3rd is tricky to decide which.
N: I'd take them off even when I'm skating 3rd. Maybe not completely take them off, but I'd redo the bootlaces and such.
—Why do you take them off?
N: It's tiring to have them on for long.
T: You'll get tired!
H: With skates on, it's more tiring to walk off ice for 10 mins, trying to keep yourself warm, than skating on ice for an hour. Don't like it. It's more effective to run (to keep warm) without skates.
T: When you have your skates on, you don't really feel you're on the earth.
N: You wobble.
T: You don't really feel like you're moving.
H: It feels like your body gets cold.

—Is there something that you yield to nobody?
N: (Being) positive.
T: Positive? Shu-kun, you're positive (in general)?
N: Positive, positive.
T: You're lying.
H: Hey, that's originally my joke. [laugh]
N: Oh, really? [laugh]
T: I thought Shu-kun was rather negative.
H: He barks positive and gets quite depressed.
T: That. [laugh]
N: I got pretty depressed the other day, and I was like, 'Well, but I've got the next one coming anyways (so it'll be fine).' [laugh]
T: What do I have (for the topic)? I'm positive too.
H: So am I!
―If all of you are positive, then that's not something you yield to nobody... [laugh]
N: Okay, then, I'm cool.
All: [laugh]
T: Can't disagree, it's annoying. [laugh]
H: Kazuki, you'd better say that one too, say you're cool.
T: Okay, I won't give in, I'm cooler... I'm more ikemen than anyone else. Laugh, in parentheses. {Note: he's pretending to read a written script, as in, parenthesis, laugh, end parenthesis as [laugh]}
N&H: Right. [laugh]
T: Gimme a break. What should I pick?
N: Like, getting teased to get a laugh.
H: For Kazuki? Definitely right.
N: It's a blessing to be teased.
T: I'm loved!
T: What is it for Taichi? Otoko-mae (handsome character)... Trusty!
N: You do have a personal magnetism (to get trusted). I got none.
H: Because you never remember people's names, Shu-kun. [laugh] Even those names you should definitely remember, you always go like, 'who?'
N: Nobody ever come to me for advice.
T: Shu-kun is good at finding something good about others. You're praising others for anything.
N: I guess that's probably because I love myself.
T: I'm honest! [laugh] Both in a good and bad way, I'm very simple and straightforward. You can easily see when I'm interested in something and when I'm not. All my emotions are clear on my face, whether I'm angry or having fun. Probably I'm just the way you think I am, I think. Hardly dual-faced.

—Please tell us a story that doesn't slip, if you have any.
{Note: It's a double-meaning question as a joke for fun, 'a story that doesn't slip' implies a story that doesn't fall flat, and also a story that sort of involves skating but not exactly skating/slipping itself. Whoever sent this question is asking for a funny story or joke slightly involves skating.}
H: May I ask you to have asked us a day earlier for that question? {=You should have asked us a day before to prepare} [laugh]
T: I didn't think this one would be chosen (to be asked here).
N: May I...(leave now)? I'm sleepy...
T: Like, someone had their sequins studded on the reverse (inner) side of the costume? Will that do (as a story that doesn't slip)?
H: It's tough, because ordinary small talks are generally the funniest...
T: Our usual talks are just too funny... It's so hard to deliver, isn't it.
N: I'm sleepy...
T: There should be one. I feel like there are some, as we always get fked up with something.

【Both Kandai Sports & Doshisha Atom】
—Tell us your resolutions for the year 2019.
H: Last year, of course I wanted to show results, but it was pretty difficult. I had uphill battles in training, rather than trying to deliver in competitions. For the next year, I'm aiming to show results in competitions.
N: I'm not very good at competing in nature. Of course I want to have results, but I recently started to realize that I couldn't be ambitious enough. I came to think that, instead of just wanting results, I'd try to enjoy many other things too with all my might and I'd be fine with that. (It would be great) if the result will follow. But going after results only won't be fun, so I'd like to enjoy skating itself in 2019.
—You've changed your point of view as before.
N: Changed a lot. In particular, Japan Nats changed me. I went for a result at Nats, and you know what happened. To be honest, I was having no fun at all in Free, I was just exhausted and wanted to quit. Results are important, but I came to wonder and thought I should enjoy it.

―What about you, Tomono-san?
T: I had long been trying to enjoy skating for myself, how I could have fun with it. But now I want to fight in the competitive world, like Shoma Uno senshu (Toyota) and Yuzuru Hanyu senshu (ANA). For the past year, I couldn't bring out all there. Before, I had no pressures and I could just skate freely. In the competitive world, I want to enjoy skating AND bring results to the best of my ability while I'm at it. I would like to jump into the world that I've never experienced/felt before.

Finally, they showed their recent favorite photos in their smartphones for us!

△Nakamura senshu
It's his selfie shot right after he got his hair cut!

△Tomono senshu

△Honda senshu
It's the first alchohol he ever had as he turned 20!

【KanSpo only part】
We conclude Kinki Danshi's Daily Life series with this. Thank you all for reading!

Okay, that's the end of the series according to KanSpo. Doshisha Atom didn't mention it's the complete end of the series(完結/conclude), so perhaps they may do another for Tomono-kun if motivated enough, who knows. I'm hoping they will!

Thanks a bunch for uploading them, tsuyoboogie!!!
As I don't have a recording device to watch it later when I have work, it really saved me time when I was extra busy!

- I can't imagine when he will do the rest of his jumping paths and compos!! I am afraid it will take away many of those transitions I liked??
I'm pleased to find Nature Boy used at the beginning, though not at the end as I mentioned before. That said, I'm not sure either about the sudden cut in the middle, it feels a little bit odd. Maybe they redo the music editing more on point and it could sound better? Dunno, but still I really like the overall structure of the program and its interpretation, and how Tomono-kun moves 'on fire', just as KiraraChin said! - I just wonder how judges will find it when it's made into a competition program.

Definitely! This program and Tomono-kun will grow together!

:2thumbs: (Window-shopping refers to almost anything, just walking around watching shop windows without buying anything)

unrelated but wanted to ask the local Japanese before I forget - so many sentences end like this (example from Kazuki's bio): 努力していきたいと思います. I don't feel comfortable translating it word for word every time as "I think". What other expressions would it correspond to in English? Sometimes I get a feeling it is very close to the tentative conditional - 'I'd like to'...
Using 'I'd like to' is what I usually do when translating and I often just skip think part (but instead add 'I think' for '~かな?' or the similar). We almost always add this 'I think' in the end of almost every formal statement for some reason (and so do I when I have to speak in formal situation). Just a cultural/habitual thing and don't worry about it too much, it's just avoiding to sound as too straightforward claim or oath.

Ooohhh is that Okazaki Taiiku? :eeking: I always wanted to watch this anime but never found it with English dub or subs... (if anyone knows where to find it, please send me a PM!)
Okazaki Taiiku is a Doshisha graduate, so he is Tomono-kun's senpai! "Shiokaze", the opening theme song for the anime series "The Great Passage/Fune wo Amu", is his first (official) single after his major debut at Sony. Unfortunately, Amazon prime dominated international distribution of the anime iirc. It may be hard to watch it outside Japan unless you have Amazon prime and it definitely needs a decent translation to understand the story and their interactions (about dictionary making...it's actually a must-watch for all language learners imo, but I hear its live-action movie and original book is easily accessible for Japanese learners).
The thing is, Okazaki Taiiku is a very smart guy with a great sense of language/vocab with rhythms, and his lyrics describe what this anime is about... although it's a nightmare for learners to understand what it says. On the other hand, the one Tomono-kun retweeted features the entertaining side of his talent, which I'm sure he enjoys the most and can relate to, let alone it's showing his campus!
I can only dream when they have a collaboration project... Tomono-kun skates to Okazaki Taiiku's music in live for a total entertainment package event!

Awww, check out this fan art of Kazuki and Vincent! https://twitter.com/nozomi500k4/status/1146821493034082305
So cute! For those who don't remember, this is the original: https://twitter.com/kionmama6779/status/1145331619097481221

lol, what is Vincent doing in that pic?
I have no idea what Vincent is doing there, either! The artist's twitter says: "I'd definitely welcome such (a treat) under the sleeves" (*袖の下/under the sleeves implies 'bribe' in Japanese, like under the table in English?). The rest is a cry of the artist how busy she's been and watching the DOI video is such a treat.

I'll reply back to pms later! (too bad I can't send more than 2 at once...)

Welcome back Tsurara! :luv17:

Thank you so much for another wonderful translation! I love that Shu and Taichi finally admit they were picking on Kazuki!
I love the bit that Kazuki talks about how honest he is. This is one of the things I love about him!

Thank you as well for your tips re: Okazaki Taiiku and the anime! I'll have another look!

That fan art is too funny, isn't it! Whatever Vincent was doing, it seems they were getting on well ;)

Hi everyone! Did you see Kazuki's HILARIOUS instastory yesterday?
https://twitter.com/FSIgstories/status/1147519194029809670 :laugh2:

Today he was having a convo with Wakaba on Twitter...
https://twitter.com/wakawakaskate/status/1147702246584401922
From what I could understand she said she had to study on her only free day, and Kazuki replied with a sympathetic comment saying something like 'it's like that, you see'.

I guess Waka is still adjusting to her life as an athlete and university student, and Kazuki is trying to reassure her since he's already in his 3rd year and used to it... He's so nice to all his kouhais and team mates! :luv17:

I came across this as well from last year's Team Japan annual training camp: https://twitter.com/main120312031/status/1147355414121472000
One of the girls (I think Mako) seemed for a moment she was going to lose balance and Kazuki immediately held his arm to protect her. Such a good boy!

I just watched FSTV and I thought I almost had my heart stopped for a moment.
Tomono-kun's SP (only some parts were shown) looks definitely cooler than I had expected it would be, it's gonna be a legendary program for sure if Tomono-kun manages to perform it clean imo, and what Mills sensei said would make you all cry for joy: Philip Mills said he had kept this program for years, waiting for a great skater to give it to. :eekn: After seeing Tomono-kun last year (I think he said at 4CC) he decided to give it to him! :gclap: Oh boy! Their choreographing scenes were also incredibly interesting to me, and I wish I could read the notes Mills sensei had in his hands that he was showing to Tomono-kun while working on it.

Btw, even though I kinda knew and had told you that Tomono-kun's pretty good at English before (after I saw him 'reading' English responses in that English interview video), it appeared to me like Tomono-kun actually understood English better than I thought he would, as well.

Hope there is a kind soul to share it with you soon!!! (I'm sorry I can't!)
(I'll reply back later, let me just go to bed for now:bed:)

ETA: OMG, thank you, tsuyoboogie again!!! wasn't expecting it to come around so soon!
