i really admire how she just FLIES into her jumps. not even a hint of fear or doubt, no amount of telegraphing. it makes her look so confident and sure of herself. congratulations to Mao on her first junior world title.

Congratulations to Mai Shimada for winning the Junior World Championship with such fabulous performances that brought the crowd to their feet with a standing ovation after the free skate. I really enjoyed Mao Shimada's lovely and intricate arm movements and deep smooth stroking of the blades all the way to the boards on the entrance to her triple axel and quad toe, her great illusion spin with the immense anticipation due to the slow wind up and great acceleration of speed at the end is stunning as is the position in her Biellmann and her lovely spirals. I also love how her huge opening jumps the triple axel and quad toe don't have big pre-rotation and how she lands them with erect posture and no hunching over to conceal ur's.
