Hey guys i had a quick question about something. I'm pretty sure most of you are familiar that off ice includes a lot of activities that helps with jumps and spins (such as box jumps, rotations, etc), but after considering this for a while, ive decided to take a break on freestyle and focus more on my mitf/skating skills and ice dance. Should those who dont practice jumps and spins on the ice still do the rotation exercises off ice as well, or should they just double up on the stretching and strength exercises?

Any tips for ice dance off ice exercises would be greatly appreciated as well!

I’m an ISSA Certified Elite Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Specialist. I work with figure skaters, hockey skaters, and roller skaters on their strength and conditioning. All skaters no matter what discipline should have an off-ice warm-up, cool-down, and strength/conditioning program that goes beyond off-jumps. However, just like with on-ice, you really need to work with a qualified professional to develop a periodized program that’s customized for you.
