I feel a little ripped off for her actually - she skated MILES better at Skate America and she got robbed there, but here she was iffy and got 8th

I think she gets better and better every season. She might have just been tired today. She's never done a Grand Prix before and suddenly BAM, two in a row.

Yeah, I did think that two Grand Prix assignments in a row would be tough. I really like her skating, and I can't wait to see where she goes :)

Russian women are golden, but I can't seem to connect with their skating. Maybe it's because the Russian women are still teenagers  I miss the goosebumps I would get with my retired favorites. Still Kudos to the Russian girls so far, and I'm glad Ashley and Satoko did well.

Wordworthgirl, you could have simply said "Am I the only one who doesn't find Anna beautiful?"

I think the Russian coaches emphasize technical goods more than presentation and polish.

Ashley is only 23 years old, she is definitly young.

I was being ironic. She joked yesterday she was competing against sonograms... which would make her about 40+ years old by her stand. (23 + 17)

I believe she's also an equestrian.

My full court looks like this:

King: Plushenko
Queen: Liza

Princess: Brooklee
Prince: Jason, Joshua, Max, Artur, Brendan

OK, I'm smiling from ear to ear! Do any of these skaters know that they have a place in your court?!

and is Brendan Brendan Frazier? or another Brendan?

All right...I'll join the PCS fray. Honestly it's impossible to say I'd give skater A or B a 62 and have any actual credibility. I mean you need to take all five components and add them up. You may even surprise yourself with your scores. I really wish that the judges could give an 8 in SS and have the courage to give a 5 in IN or P/E. It seems like they have set a par for each skater before they even take the ice and just add and subtract from there but staying quite uniform across all 5 components :bang:

Anyway....to be generic and just say who I would prefer to rank via PCS without actually scoring the individual criteria even after saying how pointless it is.....here I go

1) Courtney
2) Satoko
3) Ashley
4) Anna
5) Alaine

Oh, I think Ashley is a very beautiful woman with great character. Pogo to me can't compete with Ash in that regard. I was talking about Pogo' s looks in terms of how beauty of young girls is traditionally over-emphasized culturally and particularly so in the pretty princess tradition of figure skating.

Oh, I have a subscription so yeah, I was.

His hair was very slicked back. I've decided I prefer it that way to the messy curls.

I'm pro-curl ;) myself ... but as long as Max was smiling and feeling happy, I'm sure he looked great. :)

With the tradition there in ballet, I'm not sure that is the case, lilahozi.

A clear case of sour grapes. Those who can't do, teach, a noble occupation, those who can't do or teach, complain. :disapp:

?? Seriously, your comment is out of line, and completely unrelated to anything I posted. I merely commented on what I thought her costume looked like while she was skating. I did not make any personal slights against Anna (In fact, if you read my prior posts, I complimented her on her technical prowess), so I have no idea why you're bringing up a comment about teaching/doing/complaining.

Brendan Kerry :) Australian man who trains alongside Ricky Dornbush and Shotaro Omori in California for half the year. 4T-3T, I hope to see it in competition soon.

I'm pro-curl ;) myself ... but as long as Max was smiling and feeling happy, I'm sure he looked great. :)

Oh, no problems there - Max was smiling from ear-to-ear. I saw this morning's hair referred to as his "just got out of bed" look, well this is his "just got out of the shower" look!

I'm also reminded that I am definitely pro-the-skintight-Gladiator-costume.:

It's like saying someone has a big nose.
The two most magnificent and beautiful skaters of all time have big noses. Evgeni Plushenko  and Michelle Kwan  That's why they are so good -- they can draw in plenty of oxygen.

There are plenty Russian skaters who have presentation and polish.

I feel that the top ladies (Sotnikova, Lipniskaia, Radianova, Pogo, and Tut) are behind their less technically adept peers in presentation and refinement, even if you were to account for their youth.

Should Satoko bleach her hair to blond? change her name to, maybe Satokova? maybe the judges get confused and give her a great PCS?
